Buzz is a joke. Roosters picked up Jennings when no one wanted him and Buzz has him for 750k. He gave Sonny Bill 1M when apparently it is only 800k He has Tupou and RTS for 250K when neither of them are under contract as star players yet. they are still on their first contracts i am pretty sure. I am all for paying out the Roosters but lets at least base it on fact. PLus he completely disregards third party payments. All Buzz cares about is getting idiots to read his garbage.
You sure about the Jennings part? He must be on at least 600k (that was his estimated salary at the Panthers) and thats why Gould wanted to get rid of him. This was in 2012 when Jennings was dropped to NSW cup. But I also remember reading somewhere that the Roosters backloaded his contract - however that works i don't know.

Doubt the Roosters are the ones rorting at the moment.

Only 2 years ago, they were complete pushovers and the signing of 3 players and 1 year after a premiership isn't enough time for them to start bleeding just yet. Manly barely lost their core star players from 2008 to now. They lose SBW next year, Jennings and Maloney being the only two key signings. Don't forget backended contracts and other what nots, they went through a pretty lean phase as other clubs have.

Success breeds envy and many people would like any of the top teams to get bundled out for rorting. If anything the Souths are far more suspect at the moment, they have a stronger roster but somehow always choke, similar to the Dragon teams of 05 - 06

Only reason we don't have that kind of roster is because our management have been relative pushovers. If we weren't going to use the cap we shouldn't have released Barba, let him rot in NSW Cup until he grows up. We consistently get royally f*cked over.

In 08 for example we lost Mason over the off the season because management had absolutely no balls and then SBW ran off during the season. Those two were our marquee players at the time, if anything its our choice of players to retain that have been the issue.

Panthers are still paying a portion of his salary I am pretty sure.

That is why people thought Gus was deliberately butchering the Panthers to help the Roosters at one point.

Soft cock administration is the reason why we find ourselves in this predicament.

I had hoped that a hard nose like Hasler would transform the club into a powerhouse. We're the easy beats of the competition and making up the numbers. Barba made Hasler look good in 2012.

Our recruitment under Hasler has been less than satisfactory.

I guarantee that if it was Moore who coached our club and we had blown a lead against a cellar dweller on the eve of the finals he would have been sacked.

Hasler is an old school coach that's trying to bring science into his methods. He's just another Folkes but with a computer.

No one wants to play under des maybe. In all seriousness maybe some players just dont want to be coached by him especially the younger players.

G'Day Finchie,

Well you may be right about Dessie not attracting the players to join the dogs because no one want to be coached by him however it could never be as bad as Ricky Stuart.

Maybe he has to coach NSW so other rep players might like him and hence want to play under him so this may help recruiting new players.

Yes I think everybody is dumbfounded as to why we can not recruit a fullback especially as we have the funds in the cap to spend unless we are not prepared as a club to show the money despite what media shows in the public eye that we have an interest to recruit every player that is on the market?

Some people have said we have signed certain players, others argued we couldnt because of NOV 1 rule, BUT maybe we have, if the pther club has also agreed to releasse a plyer from their 2015 contract.

The NRL has confirmed the player market is now a free-for-all with the November 1 abolished

THE NRL’s contracting system is already a mess and it is about to get even uglier.
The NRL player market is now officially a free-for-all as the November 1 rule does not exist.

Player-agents and clubs were told in a meeting late last month that they can sign any player at any time to a new contract because the November 1 rule is a myth.

It will likely see clubs out of the finals make formal offers for stars playing in the finals this month.

Brisbane’s off-contract stars Ben Hunt, Sam Thaiday and Josh McGuire can now receive formal offers from rivals as can North Queensland’s Jason Taumalolo.

Now the November 1 rule is gone, an NRL star could sign a five-year deal one day and then another five-year deal with a rival club the day after.

Previously, NRL clubs were told not to make contact with a player until that player is in the final year of his contract starting November 1.

Paul Massey, head of the NRL’s Accredited Player Agents Scheme, told an agents conference last month that the rule did not exist.

While some managers and clubs were already flaunting the rule, they can now it do it without fear of repercussion.

The NRL confirmed to The Courier-Mail that the only rule governing the signing of a player was that clubs can’t entice a player to break an existing contract.

“Clubs are prohibited from approaching a player to switch clubs where doing so would require the player to breach his playing contract with his current club,’’ an NRL spokesman said.

“This is based on a general prohibition at law regarding inducements to breach contract.

“Clubs may, however, approach a player at any time about joining their club for the period commencing after his contract has expired.

“So, for instance, if a player is signed up until the end of the 2015 season, other clubs can express interest in signing him in 2016 but cannot seek to have them join their club in 2015.’’

The Canberra Raiders’ struggle to enforce the contracts of players who have agreed to terms is a prime example of how muddied the NRL’s contract waters are.

Now there is a free for all on signing players, expect NRL stars to sign deals years in advance of their current contract expiring.

A player would be smart to sign a future deal when they are at the peak of their powers rather than wait for an inevitable injury to lower their market price.

Please be joking?

The last three years we have been finalists, one of those times minor premiers and grand finalists.

Parramatta have not made the finals since 09, and were wooden Spooner's 12 and 13.

Don't be silly.
Then why cant we attract decent players? We are like Parra and Canberra. No one wants to play there? Is this true or not..

It's possible but at the same time we could be fined for that. If a player asks for a release from their contract then immediately signs with us then we could be fined for enticing a player to break their contract. I'd say that's a no to Stewart then since Manly has said that they won't release him but it could very well be Hoffman because Brisbane is overloaded and needs to offload some players, and if the club granted him a release he's free to sign with anyone anyway.

We signed a bunch of promising juniors, we signed Rona who was seen as a super star already by the Cowboys. I think we have no issue signing players, it's just that the players we need aren't available.

we can attract decent players, we've got a team that is playing finals. We also have the SOO halves,Centre. A future SOO player in Jackson and probably Lafai as well as one of the best front rowers in the world. If we sign stewart we'll have signed one of the best ball playing fullbacks I've seen and we've got two young props with the most potentail in the NRL in Klemmer and Perrett. We've signed the best up and coming hooker in the game and have money to throw at a quality half when they are available as well. Contracts are pesky aren't thay?
