He has screwed the club from the fans, fanbase, attitude, playing roster, sponsors (OAK), to the results week in, week out.

I love how he bags parramatta, when really he knows that panthers are just as bad.

You can't really judge him on the job yet. His first year was always going to be about changing the culture of the football and the way things were done on board level. For me, with what ever Gould does it seems like there's a vision to it. We'll be able to judge in 2/3 years.

Definitely hasn't been bad.
And how is signing Oak as a major sponsor a bad thing? lol

That was a dilemma? It helped promote their sponsor, he wouldve been real happy about it.
Daine Laurie has been going really well at the Knights, hasn't he? Panthers have recruited well for next year, NYC and NSW Cup are both 2nd on the ladders and theyre building well for the future. Just need a good halfback (hence them chasing JT).

losing michael gordon and losing lewis is a big one for gould, and all the talk about jennings would be putting the fans off, seeing who he brings to the club will be a telling factor for next season, he has got segeyro from cowboys, and gould is always talking up having youth in the squad, which means its a 4 to 5 year play he working on

Daine Laurie is useless. Best thing any club can do is get rid of him.

Not to mention (from inside information) many of the players that have played with him at Windsor Wolves thought he was a d*ckhead.

He's a poor mans Lote Tiquiri just with 50% of the talent.

As I have mentioned in other threads, Gus has created more positive impact than the media hyped negatives.

When he took over the role, he walked into a club that was struggling with its P&L, community engagement, structure and vision.

Not even 12 months into the role and we have seen:

* New major and sleeve sponsors in Oak and Cudo
* Improved community engagement with connections with local schools, shopping centres, junior leagues clubs etc
* Increased ticketed membership
* New coaching structure with Ivan Cleary, Ronnie Palmer, Garth Brennan, David Fairleigh and Phil Moss
* NYC and Windsor Wolves on top of the table > acknowledged some future prospects to graduate to first grade
* Set up of the "Horo Mansion" for recruited interstate, country and NZ junior players
* Improved signings of Brown, Segeyaro, Whare and Manu - historically we have picked up scraps at the end of the season
* Creating a 20 year vision and plan of becoming a powerhouse ala Brisbane with growing membership from 5,000 to 35,000 and "Pantherising" the west
* Planned re-structured membership for 2013 and catering on game day
* Plan to develop a rugby league academy in Penrith
* Panthers P&L is improving and the more this improves, the more it will flow onto the footy team in the coming years

On Gordon, to set things straight, Penrith put in an attractive offer which Gordon and his manager sat on for a while. When he broke his leg (again), the offer was withdrawn a week and a half later. Gordon's priority is to secure a financially sound contract (due to his age) and was able to secure a better offer from the Sharks. Understandably, Gordon accepted the better offer.

Yes, our current on field performances have been poor, but we have been showing glimpses of some success. Our halves have continued to struggle with poor 5th tackle options, lack of creativity and lack of leadership and communication with the team. Our recruitment has been purposely picked to plug in gaps with certain positions, but also help consolidate the team until a point in time where our local juniors are ready to come through.

As sad as it is to see someone like Lewis move on, we have local youngsters like Bryce Cartwright, Regan Campbell-Gillard, Chris Smith and Tony Satini being groomed as suitable replacements.

It took years of abuse and mis-management to find ourselves in this position, it is going to take alot more than 5 months (season to date) to get out of it. I am still optimistic about our future.

Is this only being asked because Lewis is leaving the club and their performance and position on the ladder? Gould is a veteran of the game, as annoying as his commentating is, I'm sure he's doing more than most would have for the club. As PantherPower mentioned, he's fairly new into the role and he's made some great changes and improvements. For problems regarding players being unhappy and/or leaving, you'd generally go to the coach first as to see what the issue is there, then move up the ranks..

Thank you. Nice to see a response from:

a) a Panthers fan;
b) an intelligent poster.

This thread is a joke.

The off-field stuff is great and all but the clubs focus should now be winning on the field.

They have lost Gordon and Lewis, with perhaps jennings on his way out.

Brown, Whare, Segeyaro and Manu are hardly gamebreakers.

thats right, its only been downhill for them since goulds signature. LEWIS, GORDON, JENNINGS, easily 3 best players. now they will have no superstars. even parra have hayne!

With the loss of Lewis, Gordon and possibly Jennings, that will free up a huge chunk of the cap. They'll be able to field a more well rounded team.

Gould is looking towards the future. Rather than trying to buy a premiership (like what we're doing) he is trying to build a team that will grow and get them there is a few years.

Just like PP83 pointed out, Gould is setting them up for the future. OP has no idea.

Short term pain for long term gain is the plan, I think he is doing a great job.

This. Look at our club just a few years ago...TG turned us around off the field and now we're succeeding on. Success won't come overnight for the panthers, but I don't think it's far off.

I'm a fan of whare and segeyaro, I think they could be really good for the panthers

No matter where you go, if a new boss comes in and throws his weight around people don't like it.
I remember when Gus coached the blues he thought he was king of the earth, listening to his rambling about the Dragoans game Sunday had me turning the volume down.

Penrith have had a negative attitude and culture for a very long time now and I believe Mr Gould will fix that and the Panthers will be a vastly different side next year with a vastly different attitude in building a great culture for the future.
