Love how the pitchforks come out after 1 loss, he's only played 4 games since like August last year ... we've won 3. Maybe not at the top of his game at the moment but if Des (one of the most sucessfull coaches of the modern era) thinks he is captain material well that carries more weight then anyone Ennis bashing on here

Do you think he has just been doing that this year? I think Des knew what Ennis was like before he made him captain. Just like Bennet did and all his other coaches before him.

If we had of crossed the line when we were 12 nil down and we had that repeat set because Gidley hit him late, his menacing would have paid massive dividens.

C'mon dude, who else was there to make captain ? Des pretty much had nothing to do with it, he was going to be captain regardless as he most likely had something stipulated in his contract.

If James Graham came a year earlier, he would have been captain. He has every quality you want in a leader.

prob right about the contract , and i do agree with you about Jammers in 1 more season.

if people want to call it "default" they can, but in reality the reason why he is "default' is because he was and still remains the best choice we have at the moment, and that is nothing against the other players in our top 25

Ennis was the obvious Captain for the club and not a default choice. He is our only current SOO rep, he is well spoken, a good family man and a genuine leader.

He is lacking match fitness but as the season progresses will be one of the stars of the game again.

thanks bulldawg - talk about the voice of reason. if he truly hasn't been grubby over the last 4 weeks then he should be abe to get away with tripping. You're right. Even if we had lost our halfback and he's the captain and running the risk of getting sent off he truly is a GREAT leader. Thank you.

its niggle, its part of his game to get under the opponents skins, TBH if you don't like him playing for the bulldogs, maybe support another team like parra or dragons?

Ennis and Dessie get along well, and if you notice are always talking in dressing room before the game.

Obviously there is a solid understanding between the two in regards to the game plan Des wants, and how it plays out on field.

Ennis needs to pick up his game big time!!!!
I was honestly not happy when he got named captain.
A captain needs to be respected by officials and opponents.
Unfortunately, none of the above can stand him.

Miss the pricey style captaincy where hard work ethics and every one loved to be around.. : (

Did you forget the fight he started after Kasiano's try against the Warriors? Or how he could of easily given away a penalty by face palming Gidley?

This. Is it my imagination or has he toned the menace down a bit? Acknowledge the trip / facepalm but maybe it's not reasonable to expect him to change career habits in 4 rounds?

Anyway, no doubt a captain has to set a standard. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

Needs a stint in NSW Cup until he finds some form. Put Shane Pumipi and Romelo in as our 2 hookers.

Every time Romelo comes on he outplays Ennis, and we score points. Ennis comes on, our defence suffers, and our attack goes flat. Then there are the kicks (don't get me started on them).

He's always passing flat, or one man out, or straight back inside and it's downright frustrating. For how much we pay this bloke he is so far overrated it's not funny.
