What's all this talk about Dess being an outsider? Is he not wearing the Bulldog emblem across his heart? Wearing our colours? Flogging our boys at training? :grinning: Let's not forget Dess was not born with a silver spoon shoved up his rectum and yes he has lived in a fibro home. Dess is a westie with his grass roots in Penrith and with the Bulldogs being his fourth HOME along his career path, with stints at obviously Manly and Wests in between.
The Silvertails enticed him with an open cheque book in 1984 when he was playing with Penrith to join them and he repaid them with 25 years of servitude both as a professional player and coach!!! Amassing four Premierships in total (two as a player and two as a coach) Manly should be singing his praises well into the next century since Dess saved them from the abyss of the Northern Eagles turning both the club and team around into being one of the most consistent teams of the modern era. Well the team at least, the club and board are a joke!!! Who is to say that he won't show us the same level of commitment and professionalism? Why does there have to be an us versus Dess attitude? It is not healthy for our team or for our club. I personally would rather it be us versus the world and backs to the wall kind of s**t with Dess as our steely leader.
Peter "Bullfrog" Moore ruled our club with an iron fist and he was no stranger to controversy!!! Let's not forget that it was Bullfrog that appointed an outsider called Warren Ryan to our club as our head coach after a series of clandestine car park meetings near Belmore Boys High, Ryan agreed to take over the coaching of the Dogs. giving us IMO the most successful period in our clubs history. Ryan had inherited Ted Glossop’s Entertainers and turned them into the Enforcers 'Dogs of War'. Ryan did not accomplish this by sitting on his Loral’s and playing favourites he did it by sweeping changes both to the team and behind the scene, much like Hasler is doing . :grinning: The only difference between these two great coaches is Warren Ryan immediately started signing players from other clubs like hardmen Peter Kelly from the now defunct Newtown Jets club and Peter Tunks from South Sydney, this front row pairing provide the basis for three Bulldogs' premiership victories, whereas Dess is committed to our current squad mainly because of the salary cap restrictions.
I would love for history to repeat itself and for 2012 to be a premiership year for the Bulldogs as it was in 1984 when Warren Ryan took over but in all fairness the current squad is Kevin Moore’s Legacy and not Hasler’s. On paper the current squad look like a contender but in reality they have NOT delivered where it counts on the field. The past two seasons have been abysmal. Players walking of the field after being humiliated by the opposition laughing and smiling flies in the face of our proud club, our heritage and is a slap to the face of every man, woman and child that love our club. Desmond in you I trust!!! Keep the bustards honest and under the whip.
With that said along with Hasler’s credentials there is no reason not to believe that this current squad of Bulldogs won’t be playing finals footy this coming season. But realistically in my opinion 2013 looms as a breakthrough year for the dogs. That is when Dess will be able to shape and stamp his own team. For now Dess Terminate who you will and drop who you must.

I struggle with the concept of a physio who is good enough for the Australian team, not being good enough for the Bulldogs. :(

Hasler clearly has his own way of doing things. He is hiring the people that know what needs to be done.

Instead of those who are best in the field??

More like Hasler is getting people in that are yes men to Hasler. Welcome to the Hasler show starring Des Hasler and in minor roles the players LOL

^ What Hasler wants, Hasler will get. And to be honest, I couldn't care less how he does it.

The club needs a good clean out, an someone from the outside was the only one capable of sweeping in much needs changes without tip-toeing. Are we really in a position to dictate terms to him? We have been sh!t house for a number of years, and he was brought in to do a job - make us competitive and strong force again. He has his own ideas, strategy, aims, vision, people - it has served him and Manly well. It is a proven formula.

Let him do his job ffs

Well honestly the Australian coaching staff plus the coach could be absolute jokes and the Australian team would still produce...Clubs would take care of their star players even if the Australian staff were pathetic.

in England?????? So your telling me that clubs send physios nd doctors over to england with their players cause the current aussie medical team are useless? wow we must have money to burn!

on another note interesting how excited people were when Ayoub came back to the club, now you all think he is useless and should be gone!!

In all honestly. No disrespect to Tony or any others that have gotten the punt but it is something that had to happen. Last year I said I wanted an external coach to come in with no baggage and change everything. There is little change if the head of an organisation goes and another person takes his places. Most trainers and staff where here under Moore, when Dymock took over they remained, some have even been here since Folkes. But hasler is doing what is required in my opinion.

He is changing things from ground up. Getting rid of the ex players that were part of the family club and get a job for life and replacing the furniture with new personnel. I agree with what he is doing. Getting a sprint coach, getting a sports scientist, these are positions most teams have had, yet we relied on 30km bike rides to keep fit. Why not get a specialists who will create diets, fitness plans, rehab schedules, make specific training patterns, and work on areas that are required in league (i.e. sprint training, wrestling/grappling, measuring fatigue and re hydration, fitness levels) every other team has been doing this stuff for years. But what do we do? we get Grimaldi to do out strength and conditioning, again no disrespect to Grimaldi, and Ayoub but Des is preparing teams like he knows, and that has gotten him 2 premierships, we can not deny those results. And some of the comments from the boys seems like the intensity has definitely lifted. If they are saying its the hardest pre season ever 5 weeks in, imagine them in March. Fitter, faster stronger???? Its looking like it might be.

i love the headline, because ayoub hasn't been sacked. in fact, even in the article it states this and from reports of those close to the club as they have shared on here, he is still employed, his role is changed and he is considering moving on. nah, let's just go with the bull**** headline lol

A premiership is a short sighted view. We need to rebuild our football club and create a system from juniors Harold Mathews right through to NRL.

We do this, and we will have premierships & compete consistently.
i want premierships back to back to back. i am not unrealistic :p

FFS Seriously, you're never happy with anything! You seem to find negativity in everything and are genuinely a pessimistic person. You're comparing apples with f**king oranges ! You're comparing a person who had one of the best rosters in the NRL at the time to someone who is coming from another club with a roster he has never coached nor did he choose and some support staff he has no rapport with. REALLY ? What kind of logic is that!
it's like trying to communicate with helen keller :roflol:

HUH? All I said is that its not cool to be like oi Hasler you owe us a premiership now

I don't doubt that he could probably get us one but I am not about to put minimum / maximum performance standards on him year by year

The guy has come here with good intentions, just let him do his job ffs!

God some ppl (Rod) twist things beyond belief!
unrealistic expectations? never! :roflol:

According to INJURY UPDATE Australia's best information source for elite sports injuries, here is the link for all who are intersted http://injuryupdate.com.au/nrl-injury-list.php#seaeagles Manly are the only club with a clean bill of health. I would not put this down to luck but good management. Whereas the Bulldogs had a list of who's who on thier casualty list for 2011. People games can not be won with personel sitting on the sidelines. Dess must know something we don't!!!

In other words Dead Wood is only good for a camp fire!!! No matter who or what they are. I personally don't believe in mates rates in professional sports or in business and I have always enjoyed winning over losing :grinning:

Hasler wants more advanced and scientific support staff...

Dessie has said that we are 10 years behind and are not exactly up to date with training and that.

He has looked at our training schedule from last season and he wasnt impressed that our training schedule is as similar to part-time footy.

Dessie is re-structuring the whole training methods in order for us to be successful on the field from next season.

Good pickup, OPSM here I come:p The site covers injuries over multiple sports and codes, seems to be a clerical error on the administrators part. But even common sense tells you and the stats point out that manly have used the least amount of players to become 2011 NRL premiers. I still stand by my earlier post!!! Des must know something we don't.

Danny Weedler's dribble in today's sun herald

BRITTON’S BARKING MAD
LONG-SERVING Canterbury
conditioner Larry Britton was
gutted by the way he exited the club.
After some 30 years service he was
offered a $30,000 payout – under his
understanding he was entitled to
$120,000.

D/Head Danny needs some "scoop" during the off season, and now that the Manly vs Bulldogs thing has been done to death by Rothfield and friends, he needs a new "exclusive".

The guys a stain on everything rugby league related and only serves to worsen the game for his own personal gain.

The NRL need to step in and media ban the idiot.

The funniest was his John Elias/Ray Dib 90's scoop!!!

And Weedler, it's actually 36years service. Amazing how he was able to get an exact $ figure, but couldn't even manage to get the years correct. You don't have to look hard Weedler, you just have to look.
