VETERAN Cronulla captain Trent Barrett has received a late call-up to the Australian rugby league side's Four Nations train-on squad.

Barrett has recovered from a fractured cheekbone and eye socket which forced him to miss the Sharks' last six NRL games.

The 31-year-old was not named when his side missed the finals after round 26 but was included on a list released today with Bulldogs and Brisbane players after those clubs were knocked out in last weekend's preliminary finals.

Barrett last played for Australia in 2005, the same year he had last played State of Origin football before making a return to the NSW side this year.

He spent 2007-08 in the English Super League with Wigan.

Only four Bulldogs players were named, to Brisbane's six, despite the Sydney club finishing on equal points with minor premiers St George Illawarra this season.

.Michael Ennis, Ben Hannant, Josh Morris and David Stagg are the Dogs' representatives.

Powerhouse Broncos props Dave Taylor and Nick Kenny have been included, with Israel Folau, Justin Hodges, Darren Lockyer and Sam Thaiday completing their contingent.

The train-on squad will assemble in Sydney tomorrow for medicals and a training session. im very surprised noddy didn't get picked and thought there might of been a bolter give the likes of kenny and douglas have been selected

why would idris be there?

hodges, falau, morris, inglis are more than enough centres lol

tbh those 4 are justifiable. The only other person who had a chance of making the train on squad would have been noddy but he played himself out of contention with his performance of friday. Pretty much we would have had to have won the GF for him to have made it. Even then, JT and Prince will suffice

Good to see Stagg recognised.

As for centres there's also Jennings.

Idris would need to stop defending like he is jumping of the walls in icy towers, to be selected.

Congrats to Stagg, Ennis, Morris and Hannant though. :grinning:

Ennis will be #2 in line for hooker so he wont play.

Hannant will play he will be the forward they look up to the most.

Morris will be the reserve centre and will play if one of the centres is injured.

Stagg should be the #13. He deserves it :D

well done

I would love to see Stagg in the Australian jumper as he has truely earnt it. However, with Melbourne in the GF and Johnson having done nothing wrong, he will get it.
Congrats to all the boys, well deserved.
