FFS, 1-1 against Wigan.
We missed Ramires, lacked creativity in the mids.

Poor Torres sitting on the bench the whole game. 14 mins of a possible 270 in the last 3 games, and he's meant to be trying to find form? Hows that work AVB?

CHELSEA CHASE A FEW
The Times is predicting a very big summer for Chelsea.

The paper reports: 'André Villas-Boas, the Chelsea manager, has identified Edinson Cavani, the Napoli striker, Borussia Dortmund's hugely promising midfield player, Mario Götze, and his former charge at Porto, João Moutinho, as his three priority transfer targets for this summer.'

Blimey. We know these job lot deals hardly ever come true, but imagine the team they would have with that little lot in there.

We'll say again - blimey.

The only problem is the pesky other clubs who own those players might not want to sell them. Napoli would apparently be willing to sell Cavani if they get a £34million offer, while Moutinho would cost around £35million and Borussia Dortmund will accept not a penny less than £40million.

And this at a time when Chelsea are theoretically tightening their belts.

'ABRAMOVICH WANTS RID OF COLE'
Well, well, well.

An interesting tale in The Sun this morning, with the paper reporting that Roman Abramovich is possibly showing some of the backing that Andre Villas-Boas has been asking for with his begging, pleading eyes.

The Sun reports that Ashley Cole will be shown the door by Abramovich after his apparent little spat with Villas-Boas, during which Cole reportedly said that Chelsea would never win anything playing with his current tactics.

The paper quotes the ever-reliable and accurate 'club insider' as saying: "When the players question the manager, they are questioning the owner's judgment.

"Andre Villas-Boas was Mr Abramovich's personal choice. In the past, the senior players have sometimes got their way over an unpopular manager.

"But this time Mr Abramovich is fed up with their moaning."

AND LAMPARD TOO...?
If the tabs have got their ducks in a line, Chelsea are really moving to clear the old boys out of Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mirror reports that Frank Lampard is a target for Paris St Germain, with the big-boned midfielder apparently 'fuming' at being left out of their defeat in Napoli in a perfectly understandable tactical decision.

The paper reports: 'With Lampard having barely hidden his anger and frustration at his treatment by the Portuguese since the start of the season, his 11-year spell at Stamford Bridge could end with him joining up with former Blues boss Ancelotti at PSG.

'A furious Lampard is understood to have told Villas-Boas he was sacrificing players for his personal vindication at the tense meeting in the team's Italian hotel.'

Crikey.

AND THEY'VE APPROACHED BENITEZ TOO
To continue this Chelsea implosion/revolution/clusterf**k stories, The Times reports that Andre Villas-Boas could be out on his arse too.

The paper of record reckons Chelsea have already sounded out Rafa Benitez about the possibility of taking over should they decide to kick that scrub AVB to the curb. That last clause was brought to you by the pop combo TLC.

Anyway, The Times reports: 'Intermediaries acting for the club have made contact with the former Liverpool manager and that could spell the end for Villas-Boas. The chaotic 3-1 defeat away to Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday night, combined with a run of only two wins in the club's past ten Barclays Premier League games, has eroded much of the lingering support that the 34-year-old Villas-Boas enjoyed within the Chelsea hierarchy.

'The players, too, are convinced of the need for immediate change, with the dressing room thought to be in a state of open revolt.'

Could be in for a rather interesting few months at the Bridge.

AND SUAREZ HEADING TO THE BRIDGE TOO?
There's a great big drum in The Daily Star offices. On that drum is a big picture of Luis Suarez sneaking out of Anfield for pastures new. And the Star are banging that drum like a cross between Keith Moon and Animal from The Muppets.

The paper reports that Chelsea are the latest club to count out the pennies and prepare an offer for the...ahem...'controversial' striker - pennies to the tune of £30million.

The Star claims: 'Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish is desperate to keep hold of the Uruguayan. But sources close to Suarez have suggested he is still upset with the way the Patrice Evra affair was handled by the club and might fancy the move.'

See, this is where the theory falls down like a house made of twine after the Big Bad Wolf has had a go. Sure, everyone else might be a little p*ssed off at how Liverpool handled the whole thing, but why the actual f*ck would Suarez be annoyed? Given that they backed him and backed him and backed him in the face of almost all logic and sense, Suarez is surely the last person that should be irked.

Unless it's some form of bizarre protest by Suarez on behalf of Manchester United fans everywhere. Which we think is rather unlikely.

Lampard's most likely gone either way this summer. Struggling to crack the top 11, no longer the player he was and Id honestly prefer a midfield of Ramires, Romeu and Meireles.

Our defence v Napoli was shocking... sure we were missing Terry, but still not good enough. Also we need a top class striker... the more I watch Cavani, the more Im praying we get him.

&&Fck off Suarez, and dont want Benitez.

Rafa Benitez will agree to take over the Chelsea job if he is offered it as an immediate replacement for under-fire Andre Villas-Boas, according to ESPNsoccernet sources.

Villas-Boas is facing a crucial few days at Stamford Bridge as his future has been the subject of much speculation and the former Liverpool boss is apparently seen as the coach to reignite the goalscoring flames of £50 million flop striker Fernando Torres, but also to glue together a dressing room that appears to be falling further apart by the day.

The Portuguese's condemnation of Torres in a recent interview - he talked about the Spaniard in the same terms as flops Andriy Shechenko and Mateja Kezman - has hurt the hierarchy at the club all the way up to Roman Abramovich.

"We have been through the Torres situation before with Shevchenko and Kezman," Villas-Boas told Portuguese radio station TSF this week. "We continue to work on his motivation, his specific movements on the field and his trust. There is only one atmosphere which will make him regain his trust, and that is a competitive atmosphere."

Those comments have been the catalyst, according to ESPNsoccernet sources, for Abramovich to seriously look at replacing Villas-Boas, on top of the revolt of some senior players such as Frank Lampard and the disharmony created within the West London club.

Abramovich (said to be deliberating deeply about what to do next) might have to decide, perhaps as early as the next 48 hours, whether he needs a coach of vast experience to rescue the season, just as Guus Hiddink did when Big Phil Scolari was sacked midway through his first season in charge of Chelsea.

Following the crushing 3-1 defeat to Napoli, the Chelsea owner faces the daunting prospect of failing to make the top four and missing out on the Champions League next season, an option that he would find unacceptable.

Back in 2004, it was known that Claudio Ranieri was going to be replaced by Jose Mourinho before a vital Champions League tie in Monaco, and history might be repeating itself as a decision over Benitez might even be taken before next week's must-win return leg.

Benitez has not worked since leaving Inter Milan after a six-month spell at the end of 2010 and his agent has openly suggested the Spaniard's desire to return to work in England, where options are limited at the highest level.

Manuel Garcia Quilon has recently said Chelsea had not been in touch, but he hinted that Benitez would be most definitely interested.

Benitez led Liverpool to Champions League and FA Cup glory and Valencia to two La Liga titles, and the feeling is that he would have more chance of turning around the Napoli deficit in the Champions League and galvanising the team to finish fourth than AVB as the Abramovich camp agonise over what to do next, possibly even before the weekend.

This all seems a bit crazy. I know that Roman has a trigger happy mentality when it comes to the clubs managers but i just cant see Benitez being installed as manager AT ALL, let alone rigt now.

RAFA TO REPLACE AVB, POSSIBLY BY TUESDAY
Andre Villas Boas admits the pressure is building rather, and according to The Mail on Sunday, the pressure might explode, like a highly pressured pressure cooker that's been put under so much pressure it can't take the pressure anymore. Or something.

The paper reports that AVB will be told in no uncertain terms to do one, and the brave saving knight, riding into town on a magnificent stallion, will be one Rafael Benitez.

Apparently Rafa is 'on the brink' of replacing AVB, and could be stepping into Andre's crouching position before their FA Cup fifth-round replay against Birmingham on Tuesday.

Boy, that's soon. Chelsea have apparently already made contact with the former Liverpool head honcho, with Villas-Boas's disposal being hastened by the events of Saturday.

The paper claims: 'Roman Abramovich's board had been expected to axe the Portuguese if the team failed to overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit against Napoli in the Champions League in 10 days' time.

'But Saturday's awful performance, which leaves Chelsea in fifth place in the League and three points adrift of Champions League qualification considered vital by the club, seems certain to bring forward that decision.'

Yowzers.

CHELSEA AND VILLAS-BOAS PART COMPANY
Posted on: Sun 04 Mar 2012
Andre Villa-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today.
The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointmentthat the relationship has ended so early.
Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season.
The club is still competing in the latter stages of the Uefa Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts.
With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time.
With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Blues stars hate Di Matteo even more

ROBERTO DI MATTEO is up against it already at Chelsea because players like him even LESS than Andre Villas-Boas.

Blues have appointed Di Matteo until the end of the season.

But the move will do little to improve morale.

A source said: "The players could not stand AVB because of his arrogance. But, if anything, they like Roberto even less.

"He's just too cock-sure. They might unite behind him to start with but after a couple of bad results it will be just as bad, if not worse.

"It's a shambles from top to bottom. They just don't have a coach.

"There's no one to take control of training, no one for the players to look to."

Chelsea fans still like Di Matteo from his playing days, which were cut short by injury.

But after early success at MK Dons and winning promotion with West Brom, he was sacked by Baggies in 2011 after winning just 10 of 30 Prem games.

He was still out of work last summer when Villas-Boas drafted him in as his assistant.
