Imagine how pissed you’d be if you were a once weres fan. They’ve have a great season probably their best since Ivan coached them and then their best forward asks for a release.

Didn’t he ask for a release when he was at Manly also??
Yep

For compassionate grounds. (they were, he was offered more money at the WAHS.)

Hope WAHS deny or play hard ball & put restrictions on where he can go.

Agreed but if they do play hard ball he needs to follow through and not bottle it like Hunt.

Difference between Walsh & AFB.

Walsh asked the Warriors in advance for the release & only used the compassionate grounds once.

ADDIN FONUA-BLAKE – KIWI #807
Born: 6 November, 1995 – Sydney, NSW
Test record: 1 Test (2018) – 0 points
Tours: 2017 World Cup

Bulldozing front-rower Addin Fonua-Blake played one Test for New Zealand early in his NRL career but subsequently pledged his allegiance to the Mate Ma’a Tonga cause.

Born in Sydney, Fonua-Blake was a Mascot Jets junior before coming through the lower grades at Sydney, Parramatta and St George Illawarra – captaining the Dragons’ under-20s side and earning an NYC Team of the Year nod in 2014.

Fonua-Blake also featured in the Junior Kiwis’ 2014 victory over the Junior Kangaroos, but his Saints contract was terminated for disciplinary reasons in 2015 and he linked with Manly at the end of the year after being granted approval by the NRL.

The 20-year-old made his first-grade debut with the Sea Eagles in 2016 and quickly became established as a key member of the club’s pack. He represented Tonga in the 2017 mid-season Test against Fiji but accepted a place in the Kiwis’ World Cup squad at the end of the season, making his sole appearance off the bench in a 74-6 defeat of Scotland in Christchurch.

An elite go-forward prop with superb mobility and footwork that belied a 120kg frame, as well as boasting excellent ball skills, Fonua-Blake made the decision to switch his allegiance to World Cup darlings Tonga the following season. He played in Tests against Samoa and Australia in 2018 and New Zealand in 2019 but missed the Pacific powerhouse’s historic wins over the Lions and Kangaroos in the latter year.

Fonua-Blake sought a release from Manly at the end of the 2020 season and linked with the Warriors. Widely regarded as being among the NRL’s elite props, he was outstanding for his new club and turned out for Tonga in the mid-2022 Test against New Zealand and all four of its World Cup matches later that year.

Dragons have a premiership winning coach. We have an untried rookie who had his team conceding 34 points per game in his first year. What makes you assume we are in a better position?
You’re trolling again. Why are the dragons better? They finished below us with a better points differential? How did that help them? They self destruct every season, their back office is in shambles and their marquee player wants out. Are they better because Flanagan went there?

The only thing they have is the coach who if I’m honest I wish we had landed.

Outside of that we have one thing most others don’t and that’s $$$ and plenty of it. We are in a better position.

Fucking hope we get him. Exactly the player we need.

Thompsons money was probz always allocated elsewhere so doubt that helps.

Tpj gone unexpectedly frees up 700k+ depending on the article you read 800k. Even at 700k I’d say it’s very realistic to go for him.

Need to find a few hundred k and we probably are under that already. If we have to pay half of rfms cap do it! That should balance the books.

We clearly can make that work and without a doubt a top 5 prop and could argue anywhere besides haas in my opinion.

Gus has the relationship with warriors and needs to get this done.

Cmon Gus! In Gus….

It's for the extra money. :tearsofjoy:

WAHS can let him use the private jet to get home if Mum has a bad turn & use it to get back to NZ. lol
