RFM is NOT a backrower. During that tough stretch under Potter for a few games, he and Burton got exposed for their defense. Either play him on the bench or 13.

RFM could well be a back rower he was coming back from a long lay off and his lateral movement was shit and got exposed, doesn’t meant to say with different defensive structures and increased fitness his defensive issue could be resolved, with him at right back row means we have someone that can make something happen with an offload as Kyle won’t be putting people through holes

I’d be getting players left and right of flanno to practice simple kicking, that way when flanno shits the bed on the last at least we have someone that can do what a half is supposed to.

Can't see Ciro changing your team much ...at least for the first 4 games ...unless something really drastic does not work on the field.

Maybe Brown will start at 7 if he has a great pre-season and forms a brilliant combination with Burton as compared to Flanno?

Burton's recommendation, if he is asked, will probably have some sway with who he thinks will work best as his halves partner.

The team will be better in 2023 (surely!) lol

Okay but how do you explain why he was a defensive liability since he has been in first grade? He can’t defend out wide, he can’t pass, he can’t run a line any better than anyone else.

He has a nice short pass in traffic (sometimes)....but no one there (most times). :grinning:

Unless we're going to play duds instead not really any positions up for grabs imo
renoylds will never be a 7. More chance of Burton playing 7 and Josh at 6.

Can’t run a line? He was fine doing it next to Foran with great effect albeit on the left

He was very good whe both he and Foran were on the field - i do agree that RFM needs to improve defensively if he is to continue as an edge forward - he is unlikely to get quicker and more agile as he gets older - better structures n coaching may make all the difference.

Not a genuine 7 no. You can play with 2 Five-eighths with the right hooker. I think it's much better than Flanagan. Burton already dominant with Flanagan anyways.

i just don’t like the thought of not having a dominant organising halfback. Moses is the 7 we need.

a good right footed kicker and good left footed kicker, both a threat when they run and Moses can control a game.

For 2024 of course, next year we're pretty screwed in that department tho.

* Topine @ 13 because it allows TPJ to still play middles, but move Thompson to the bench where he is more effective ATM. Plus it also allows us to keep Pele and Patalo in NSW cup for a while longer.
Sensible line up working with what we have.
I hope Gus can surprise us again with Davey and Sutton purchases like he did last year with Max King. Virtually unrated to begin with but ended up solid and exceeded expectations.
