Going by the highlights Gutherson has hit some form. He will be vital with Moses out.

Manly killed their season off with the pride jersey saga.

They looked quite threatening early in the year and Saab was a standout in this game for them but stats highlights how bad Manly were compared to how good the Eels were.

Eels had 53% of the ball.
Manly 47%

Completion Rate: Eels 86%
Manly: 77%

But where it really gets ugly is

Missed Tackles: Eels 18
Manly: 36

Yes Eels looked good but Manly made them look good.

Manly are gone
Eels are Finals bound, at this stage but have a long way to go before any of the top tier teams start losing sleep over them being a premiership threat. They should make the 8 now but feel they’ll fall short of a top 4 spot.

On a positive note they’re still winning and did so without Moses whose kicking game and goal kicking were sorely missed.

One thing from this game highlighted is how important the video ref is. The bunker hasn’t always got it right but they do get it right more often than not.

Blake try and Matterson no try were both correct decisions and that’s why the Bunker is good for the game overall.

What I’m against and don’t want to see again is the same ugly scenes from the Cowboys / West Tigers match that descended into utter chaos and ultimately a referee howler decision that was brought about by the Captains Challenge Rule. It highlighted that Teams and Captains can exploit this rule to their advantage when you have such another grey area with escorts. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen again in the Finals or heaven forbid the GF.

Captains Challenge rule should be dumped for next season. It was worth a try but is just another stoppage the game can Ill afford.

Speaking of stoppages.
They justify some rule changes to speed up the game then make other decisions that slow the game down for gimmick.
Thats not what is best for the game, thats what is best for spectacle and the broadcaster.
Why award a try, kicker preppairing to kick than shut everything down so they can show replays when they never use to.
Really enoys me.
You have this treasured item and the caretakers keep changing it.
My Uncle use to play footy. Life changed and has had zero interest for years.
He watched a SOO match recently, the first game he seen in a long time.
He was bewilded. Didnt understand half of what was going on.
"This isnt footy"

I remember the game I went to vs Manly in 2012, Barba grubber kicked it and scored the winning try in the last minutes of the game.

The fans got sooo salty I loved it
Haha yes, i was there too and Mbye was right next to me watching the game.

Here is a bold prediction.
In 3 years time, the right centre and right winger who can tackle and more importantly make correct decisions in defense will be the highest paid players in the game.
The standard is beyond appalling accross the league.
This is where the majority of the tries are being scored. All the damage being done.
It really makes you wonder what goes on at training.
Coaches certainly review tape and see week in week out there right wingers and centres continue to make the same mistakes decision wise.
Imagine going to work and every day you continue to make the same mistakes and you just continue to work.
Something does not add up

For someone that is absolutely obsessed with this you seem to ignore of an awful lot of what actually goes wrong in the middle in the first place.

Obsessed?
Its on repeat every single game.
It has NOTHING to do with the inside.
It is the centre who keeps on going in and falling for the decoy runner leaving a 2 on 1 on his winger.
Every single time the wrong decision is being made.

He’s always been the same all that talent but only when he wants to put in effort, centre really suits him over spine

I agree, he just isn't reliable enough. Thing is his bad days he can still come up with multiple try assists. It's so frustrating, he should really be the best player in the game.

His team is up 24-0. There is no need for him to do more today.

He can get away with it because he's a beast.
