Transfer Bombshell: Silly season takes shape as clubs consider double backflip worthy of Commonwealth Gold

The scintillating recent form of Jeremy Marshall-King and Reed Mahoney have their current clubs secretly pondering contract backflips on both players, which could see Marshall-King remain in the blue and white, and Mahoney in the blue and gold beyond season 2022.

The Bulldogs have averaged nearly 30 points per game across their past 3 fixtures, with Marshall-King leading the charge with an array of line breaks and try assists. The bite in the ‘Dogs attack is something they’ve missed for nearly a decade, and senior staff are keen to keep it in tact.

The Eels have also scored an average points tally in excess of 24 points across the last month, with the 24 year old Mahoney playing a lead role in their success.

Both clubs have acknowledged their intention to retain their incumbent rakes, and will both agree along with the players to have them stay put should Redcliffe Dolphins powerbrokers come to the party.

Marshall-King recently inked a 2 year stay with the new franchise, and will require the blessing of Wayne Bennett and co to backflip on the deal in order for the grand scheme to come to fruition.

Given the hot form of Marshall-King, and the lack of depth in the hooker position currently signed to the Dolphins, the deal appears to be a tall order.

However, both the Eels and Bulldogs have attempted to sweeten the deal by both offering 2 of their hottest young talents to the Dolphins. Khaled Rajab, a half capable of playing hooker has been offered up on behalf of the Bulldogs, whilst the Eels have thrown up 22 year old Brendan Hands, and would reportedly be willing to send experienced forward Nathan Brown their way as part of the deal.

The 3 clubs will meet to discuss the deal further later in the week. More to follow…

I hope nothing comes of this. JMK's running game has been excellent recently but Mahoney reads the game better. We look more like a premiership threat with Mahoney, if he gets a little fitter in the off season.

Highly doubtful that there's substance to this. It'd be a very poor breach in confidentiality from two clubs to let this slip. I don't think our club has leaks on this scale these days

JMK has played well for us recently and I wish him all the best with the Dolphins... but Mahoney could be a long term, top class hooker for us... and I think we got him for a good deal... why let him backflip when we have had such issues with our spine for the last 7-8 years?

and please let Rajab develop first before letting him go
