Like all wars, there should be some acknowledgement for this turbulent time in rugby league history.

Forced progression regarding administration restructures, player remuneration, rule changes, expansion, improved tv coverage, spectator improvements and the like.

A small nod to this time of change would be to revisit the personal / individual player number to their jerseys and could be implemented for the last round before the semis.
Traditional position numbers could be retained on players' shorts.

Perhaps the remaining Super League/NRL clubs could put forward their submission.

Yes or no?

You want the ARL to honour and memorialise Super League? Even V’landys wouldn’t be that dumb.

We all move on. Things introduced in that time still part of the nrl.

Would prefer to see players last names on jerseys and keep the current number system.

Administration needs restructuring again, each rule change needs to be reviewed after the season is finished. We should go back to rules in circ 2000 & start again. TV coverage was MUCH better in 2000 as was commentary. The salary cap needs to be a salary cap for all, not some, maybe add a points cap to it. No need to copy the AFL with player numbers although there was the same system when Canterbury debuted in 1935. I'd go back to the old number system (ie lock 8, 2row 9 & 10, props 11 & 13 & hooker 12), it made more sense.

The media need to be held accountable for stories - ie if they got a story wrong, they apologise, name their source & have the same amount of positive space for the player / club that they put into to destroying them. That last bit alone would be costly for them. Referees need to be more accountable & reviewed by a neutral panel (if you can find one). There is ZERO accountability with wannabe politician Graham Annesley.

And bring back a match day program for historical purposes. Digital information gets lost & can be changed. Why isn't there a magazine for the "big league"?

@chisdog Yes I remember when the numbering system was as you pointed out. My first Dogs jersey was #8 for Paul Langmack at Lock. Pretty sure it was changed to align with the ‘international’ system where #13 is Lock etc which seems pretty silly given how few countries play RL on the world stage (even less than today back when the numbering system changed).

Print media such as Big League and Rugby League Week aren’t profitable - it’s a digital world.

Noble sentiment but good luck re: media accountability in the age of shock jocks / conspirators.

If it was done right, The Super League concept would have worked. The problem with Super League was that it recruited clubs. Which divided the tribalism of the game.

If the Super League spent their money wiser. They would have created totally new teams.
3 in Sydney, 3 in Brisbane and then one team cities around Australia.

It would have been a slower burn to success. But it would have been embraced eventually as the next level up from NRL.

Have always thought this, it just needed someone with the foresight and patience but I get why they had to approach it with short sighted views. I reckon super league would have phased out the ARL by early 2000’s.

Yup, the way the media currently operates is a major problem, but it won't be easily changed. There needs to be a fundamental shift in society if ever that puddle of toxic mess is going to be put back into the barrel from whence it came.
