While everyone would agree I'm sure most of us would be happy just to make the top 8 let alone a GF anytime soon.
Shows how low we have fallen. Nothing else. 6 years ago we were sitting here saying that making the finals meant nothing if we aren’t a genuine threat to the premiership.

Before that it was GF’s mean nothing if we can’t win.

Our standards have dropped so low over the last 10 years haha.

How long did it take for a #9? About a decade. These guy's think buying a forward all the time will take care of it. Obviously they are/were wrong. Reynolds would have been a great grab, hell even Hastings.
No 7, 9 or 1 for around a decade. Administration and coaching has been inept and they have driven our proud club into the ground. Other clubs laugh at us. Its fkn depressing

There’s many off field reasons of course. But on field we were still making the finals except his last year in 2017.

2015 and 2016 we made the 8 and we weren’t happy.
Yes we sacked him for Dean Pay to get better results. Come on mate. We don't need to derail the thread just leave it there please.

We were'nt going to bad for a few years after Hodkinson departed, our ball playing forwards were doing a lot of the halves work.
Perhaps instead of just hitting the ball up one out, our forwards should be told to of-load before hitting the line, and rely on Burton's long kicks to gain field position.

Half backs are the main reason the NRL shouldn’t expand. There’s just not enough first grade standard ones.

Reynolds, Cleary, Hughes, Townsend, Moses, DCE.

Keary and Johnson are both 5/8’s playing halfback. Hynes is killing it but isn’t a traditional halfback of any kind.

Hastings may become a good halfback. He’s a good footy player at the moment but still more a 5/8 before the last month.

All the rest are lucky to play first grade as a halfback. When there’s only really 6 professional half backs in the comp it’s always going to be an issue.
I agree in regards to expansion. But a club like us, should never go a decade without a halfback. It is disgraceful. Dib, Castle, Andersons, Hasler, Pay and now Tbaz have left a dark stain on our club. Gus has a big job to turn it around, hopefully he sticks around long enough to see it through otherwise i don't know who in the game can turn our fortunes around

Haha, you derailed the thread by saying you don’t need a half back and that it’s just the coach that matters.

Nothing I've said is wrong. Copy paste something that's wrong please (or keep dribbling).

P.S. pretty obvious why Gus blocked you on twitter.

Why have we been unable to recruit, identify or develop a half back since Trent Hodkinson? It has been seven years since we have had a NRL standard half. Every person responsible for recruitment and development are all fkn frauds and should hang their heads in shame.
And even hodko was in and out of form.

Lachlan ilias should be getting looked at in terms of playing 7 for us. Wouldnt break the bank, perfect fit imo.

Name the last team to win a premiership without one?
Brisbane Broncos 2006

They had one, but he was very no frills.

Shane Perry.

Alot easier when you have 10 superstar's in the team around you though.

Why hasn't BBO got the specialist halves training required?

Kodi Nikorima
What was reported was that the Kodi signing is purely to be a back up. Can cover halves, hooker, fullback. Same way they planned to use Milford before they let him go. He was never to replace the existing halves pairing.

Townsend is a dud HB who rode on Maloney's back in 2016 and Moses has never led his team filled with a strong roster to a GF and often goes missing in big games. Hynes is already a superior HB to both of them as are Keary and Johnson.
There is a delusion on the TK that a "traditional halfback" is one who just "organises" or the awful term of "game manager". i.e just passes and kicks the ball. The majority of the greatest HB in history had a good running games in addition to their "organising" - Mortimer, Johns, Thurston, Langer etc and those with limited running games like Sterlo and Stuart had exceptional passing and kicking games.
