The only hope we have is that someone offers Jackson a 2-3 year deal and he asks to move on. Outside of that there’s no way he would leave given he’s on good money and captain

Jacko has earned the right to retire on his own terms !!!
If he wishes to continues on he must play his own game and not try and turn him into something he is not,
If he is not up to the speed of the current game start him of the bench bring him on when the game slows down.
If he is interested and capable he should be employed to do a post playing job at the club.
That's what The Family must do !!!

This is the problem. Fans want fairytales and success. They don’t always go together. Would the roosters or storm keep a player on for sentimental reasons, working at the club for sure but not on the field.

Successful clubs don’t hesitate to tap players on the shoulder when their time is up regardless of who they are and what they’ve achieved in the past. No player is owed the opportunity to leave on their own terms alone.

We are talking about Jackson not some other lazy player...
We placed him under immense pressure when thinking he can be a great captain after Graham, he wasn't !
TBaz is trying to turn him into an Isaah Yeo, he is not !
Yes we might not notice but I believe the roosters and the storm still respect their captains and senior players.

He won the Dally M for best centre in the comp last year. Penrith will re-sign him and he'll be straight back there.
He’d be hot property on the market for sure but Penrith have Crichton and Tago. Both high quality in their own right.

Apparently one of the best trainers at the club. And pound for pound one of the strongest.

Get him certified as a trainer and shaft that fat Ned Kelly looking bloke. The guy should be at the club for life. Fitness was never Jackson’s problem. True warrior. But he isn’t a starter anymore let alone a starting lock. Only problem is we lack back rowers at the moment (injuries to hetherington rfm havent helped at all). Jackson still offers enough to be an nrl player. Problem is he shouldn’t start. He isn’t a 13. And his salary should be 350k.

Decent 14. Especially with no class in our back row. But until Waddell isn’t in the 17 anymore we will not be beating many teams. Can’t win in nrl with fringe first graders which is what the dogs are full of.

Would be a tough chat to have. And I doubt barrett is able to make that call (hell Waddell has been a main stay for the last 2 seasons). We will be a better team when Jackson’s role is limited and jmk, okunbor, burns, Waddell, Stimson, Flanagan are not top 30s.

I respect your opinion but don’t agree, if we want to see success we need to forget sentimentality.

Ennis, Graham and Price all moved on. If Gus makes this tough call I believe he’s doing the right thing.

Jackson tries his guts out and it’s unfortunate he’s around at a very poor time in the clubs history. But let’s be honest he has been paid very well and we offered him a longer and better deal than any other club would have, he has been well paid for the pain he’s endured.

Whatever the circumstances he’s not going to add massive value on field. Keep him involved with the club just not playing.

Josh Mansour was still contracted to Penrith when told to either find another club or play reserve grade. He played the best part of 10 years for them representing his state and country within that period. It’s very obvious that the Panthers made the right call.
