First day back at school for three weeks ( after a one week return at end of last term after we had been locked down for a month) and it was pretty weird. In our job this term ( we are not actually DOE teachers but are approved and have had to develop skills to deal with a class of kids varying in age from 7-12) we are not allowed face to face teaching with the kids so us old chooks have adapted........ again......
Considering our combined ages total 181, we have managed to put together a video presentation with the kitchen coordinator as the voice over and camera person , the garden lady as the hand model and me as the random hair model because after having to wait for months for a haircut scheduled to take place on November 11th I have the best head of hair....
So we have shown the kids the way to prepare food from the harvesting to the table and put together some little food parcels all prepared with strict health guidelines. We will deliver to the class room door complete with work sheets, video link details so the teacher can then conduct the class on our behalf during their normal lesson time for the program...The good thing about our program is that it not only teaches life skills such as gardening and cooking but also includes science, math and English as other benefits......
