This game is carnage, if you are already cemented in the top 4 and have a game like this I'd just rest a whole bunch of players.

Let's see what the NRL make of this latest incident as Latrell has form this year for poor conduct and has faced the judiciary earlier this year.....The NRL want Souths to do well and make it more than a two horse race for the premiership. they are trying to prop up a product that is hemorrhaging funds and losing fans by the truckload with skewed decisions and lopsided views as to how certain players should be treated...

And I thought the point of the game was to see the best players not taken out of the game by a cheap shot........

Jimmy Brings: The moment Latrell broke Brimson’s jaw - but got off

This is the incident which left Gold Coast Titans and Queensland Origin star AJ Brimson requiring a plate inserted in his jaw for a hairline fracture.

South Sydney game-breaker Latrell Mitchell is undoubtedly the type of player who can turn this year’s finals series on its head come September.

But the champion Rabbitohs fullback is treading a fine line in terms of some of the ill-discipline which creeps into his game.

Earlier this year Latrell lashed out much worse with his boot against Wests Tigers second rower Luke Garner.

Fortuitously, the South Sydney no.1 missed connecting with the Tigers forward.

Mitchell certainly didn’t miss Brimson and the Gold Coast fullback finished up having surgery to insert a plate in his broken jaw.

In fairness to Latrell, Brimson was clinging on around his boots to try and buy time after the South Sydney fullback had made a cracking break.

The Match Review Committee saw fit to lay no charge on Mitchell - which raises the question of how much they knew about Brimson’s injury?

Because supposedly they take injuries into account when issuing charges these days.

The point is no one wants to see Mitchell suspended at this stage of the season given his importance to South Sydney’s shot at the NRL title.

The Bunnies have made it into three straight preliminary finals and finished 80 minutes short of the grand final on each occasion.

But their recent record against the Melbourne Storm and Penrith is a concern. They’ve lost their last six games straight against Melbourne and five games straight against the Panthers.

Last year Mitchell was injured and South Sydney still found ways to win - this year to be a genuine chance of sending Wayne Bennett and Adam Reynolds out of Redfern with the Rabbitohs 22nd premiership Latrell needs to be on the field.

Mitchell missed four weeks earlier this year when he lost his head against the Wests Tigers and finished up being hit with three separate charges.

The punishment was excessive for the incident he fought at the judiciary but that’s the system and Latrell rolled the dice.

One of the charges was contrary conduct - lashing out with feet.

Which is precisely what’s happened in the Brimson incident in round 22.

From a discipline point of view Latrell needs to stay away from the angry pills given he’s been charged with five match review committee incidents dating back to the beginning of last year.

Geez Souths are a protected lot.

Klein's reffing just so one sided.

The commentators are a gutless bunch, including Gus!

Grade 3 shoulder charge is like 500+ points? He has a stack of loading and carry overs...no way he plays until next year.
Just watch 'em wrangle some minor charge to keep him in the finals.
