Kent last night said they don't have any cap left, even with the retirement of Bmoz and Cordner.

Next morning the Roosters making a play for B Smith lol
Roosters always have cap left haha. I saw one of their fans online saying they had about $2.1m free for next season :tearsofjoy:

Straight out the whole panel laughed on the Fox wrap up after the game Monday that wirh Cordner gone, that a lot of clubs would now be worried about them coming in and undermining their offers and pick the eyes out of anyone decent who is available.
Anasta, Kent, Ennis, Ikin all laughed and gaffawed :grinning:

Meanwhile back at NRLol HQ and the other clubs, all the CEO's were biting their nails and rubbing their rosary beads hoping they can pick up some scraps Rorters leave behind :grinning:

Transfer Market: Latest NRL contract and signing news

The forced retirements of Boyd Cordner, Jake Friend and Brett Morris frees up around $1.3 million in the salary cap from next year.
So where will the Roosters spend the money?

Cordner still had two years left on his deal of about $750,000 a season.

Morris was believed to be earning around $300,000 a year.

But the trio also leave a 721-game experience vacuum in Robinson’s squad.

While a left-field option, the addition of feisty Melbourne hooker Brandon Smith not only injects a key attacking player into Robinson’s spine but adds starch to the forward pack thanks to his versatility.

It’s understood Canterbury are actively pursuing Smith for 2023.

The Storm are open to releasing Smith before the end of next season but it won’t come easy. Melbourne are asking any potential suitors for a representative player of similar value to let Smith go next season.

Promising rake Sam Verrills is earmarked as a long-term replacement for Friend, but an ACL rupture and then a serious eye injury has limited the dummy-half to seven match since the start of last season.

Robinson has other options at No.9 including Adam Keighran, reserve grader Ben Marschke and youngster Freddy Lussick.

The premiership winning coach has considerable depth in the second row to cover for Cordner without having to go to the market.

Yes, he's way too talented to pass up

No, there's holes elsewhere the Roosters need to fill

Sitili Tupouniua and Angus Crichton, who is expected to be recalled into Brad Fittler’s NSW side for game two, have locked down the starting edge spots. With Tupouniua signed until the end of season 2024, Crichton is likely to be biggest beneficiary from the money freed up following Cordner’s retirement.

Nat and Egan Butcher plus rookie second rower Fletcher Baker are also seeking extensions to remain at the club.
Crichton recently inked a one-year extension to stay at Bondi until the end of season 2022 and will go on the market again on November 1.

Crichton won’t be the only Roosters star to hit the market in five months time with boom rookie Joseph Suaalii, explosive centre Joseph Manu, forwards Siosiua Taukeiaho and Lindsay Collins, playmaker Lachlan Lam all free to talk to other clubs.

The added space in the Roosters cap could also benefit stalwart winger Daniel Tupou, who along with Josh Morris are Matt Ikuvalu, still have no deal to stay at Bondi beyond this season.

Kenty said last night on 360 that they didn’t have much space at all with reduced cap due to Covid and other players already receiving upgrades. Of course it is the roosters ..

We won't be signing cheese, storm won't let go of a player who is one of the best hookers in the comp so stop fucking going on about it FFS.
As a player where would you prefer to play at, either at a club that is a top 4 finisher nearly every season and you have a good chance of winning a premiership or at a club that probably won't be in contention for a premiership for 4 to 5 years if your lucky.
We'll be stuck with a second rate 9 jmk who is an average number 9 at best.

how much do u think hes on at storm
because he will get at the very worst double that at any other club
hes won prems, time to start his own legacy and lets be honest
its damn right unfair seeing him and Grant carve up on the same team
before the season started, i didn't think he would be worth huge coin

but after watching him very closely this season, he just gets more impressive every week
if we don't get him for at least 2023... i will be severely disappointed - he is an absolute weapon

1. Some players would prefer to play in their preferred position every week, and sometimes that means moving to a lesser club

2. If a player has confidence in their ability, why not move to a lesser club and make a difference? It’s got to start somewhere

He'll be able to double his salary and have the 9 jersey all to himself at our club. That's a pretty tempting offer.
If the Storm don't release him for 22 we should at least try and sign him in November for 23...but I haven't given up hope we'll sign him for 22

They always were going to make a play, especially with Cordner retiring.
I can't see him fitting into their 'upper class' elitist regime... He seems to real for a club like them, even if Bulldogs don't get him I really hope Roosters don't get him and I don't want to hate the bloke
