Haha building up his resistance to germs the hard way lol.

It happens. They survive.

Parents are molly coddling so much these days and then you get the exact opposite with the rest who aren't nurturing and guiding kids at all :(
Yep then you see the family that their kid won’t eat anything but McDonalds and your like hmm this is very wrong as well.

I disagree sorry. If the company were so concerned about it they would’ve stopped publishing the books on their own accord, not wait for snowflake educators from the left cancel culture to prompt them. Virtue signaling at its finest and I’ll never buy their books. Get woke go broke
Had a sneeking suspicion you'd disagree hehe.

It is a bit weird - a guy in a Superman outfit wearing footy boots. Surely they know that studs aren’t going to allow for the softest of landings when you’re taking Lex Luthor and Otis to prison. Changes are needed :-)
Marvel changed their business model and character's outfits for today's market. What a success story. Dr Seuss shoulda :grinning:

Haha. I think you’ll struggle to find a lot of support on this here or in most of Australia

I'm not a fan of cancel culture in general, but I find it hard to get upset when a company makes a decision like this with no one really pressuring them to do it.
And no modern organisation is letting that above image get through these days. I know it’s an old book but yeah maybe not appropriate anymore especially because people like helicopter mummy I was talking about wouldn’t buy it and at the end of the day they are there to make money.

Do you really believe that though mate?
This statement says it all, "Dr Seuss Enterprises listened and took feedback from our audiences including teachers, academics and specialists in the field as part of our review process," it said.

I’d love to ask them how many complaints they had before they decided to undertake a “review process”. Cancel culture complained about literally everything else slightly controversial but left these books alone? Come on

Not my problem.
Not first world either.
Times, literature and societal norms change.

The big tough Trumpsters can't win 'em all :grinning:
Not sure what it has to do with Trump but you aren’t slightly worried about your grandkids and their grandkids if the loud minority get their way canceling everything that offends them or offends them on behalf of everyone else offended or not? This is a much bigger issue than a children’s book about to have a large sales drop

Plus have you read those particular books mentioned lately. They haven't stayed relevant. Kids aren't interested. Hell.. I think they're boring lol

Yes I understand your point for sure but I don't group every little thing together to conclude that society is cancel culture....thats just yet another furphy from right wing conservatives trying to cancel out reasoned thinking on how modern society is evolving.

I think it's fair enough to weed out books that are no longer relevant to pre-schoolers and not worry that kids are going soft.

It's not the reason why they are for mine.

I don't recall reading a lot of these books apart from green eggs and ham. But it's not parents who are concerned with this type of thing that would be perpetuating or promoting racism. So in a way I think this defeats the purpose of banning the books.

Because they made it relevant for today's kids...and us :grinning:
I get your point but should we change all the classic literature to modernise it?
Where does it all end?

That's possible. I didn't personally see anyone demanding these be pulled but it's probable that there were a fair few complaints.

That said, it's just a company protecting their interests, and probably doing it before it became a major problem.
