It’s like bringing a coach back from the 90’s and early 2000’s and expecting him to do the same job he did back then. He’s been out of the game for a while now and there’s been so many advances in sports science that I dont see the point in bringing him back. Looking at the players the conditioning and fitness staff have done a good job anyway.

They’re going on a camp next week maybe he’s been brought in for that? No need for sport science there, just thrash them.
They are already down in camp in Kiama. Throwing the sports science out and thrashing them worked wonders for the Dragons under Mary when they shit the bed by round 12.

It’s a camp for a week long. Every club does it. It’s not about sports science..... it can be about teamwork, building relationships, moulding mindsets etc.

Yeah they probably have a bunch of things organised they wouldn’t be thrashing them this close to the season though.

Like others have said. The game has passed the old hard trainers like Billy Johnston, Steven Folkes, Garry Carden etc.

Great blokes and tenacious trainers. But in a world of load management and timed training sessions etc. it’s a science now.

But I’d still love to have him around even as a boxing coach or even to train the juniors coming through (in a non politically correct way :p).

Well respected figure non the less. And like someone else mentioned could be doing a boot camp style fitness regime.

No idea if there's any real reason that he's back. Might just be that he's reminiscing by visiting the club.

I don't know that his brand of training is still as effective as it was when he worked here last.

Baz is always going on about the rich history and fabric of our club, It's not a bad idea to bring in people who bleed blue and white but more importantly can tell these young pups what wearing the jersey is all about.

Probably just to give motivational speech and to take the aircond away from the gym.

His style of training would be out of date these days

He's probably popped in to harden up our hookers. He is well respected in the game as being a very good player and someone who went on to succeed at other clubs and a club icon.

Apart from Hetherington, Ennis, Billy would be the best ex hooker/dummy half to bring in for a session with the guys.

Only good could come of it.
