PANTHERS LIKELY TO LOSE BURTON

The Panthers may have to accept the reality that the chances of young playmaker Matt Burton remaining at the club beyond his current contract are slim.

The 20-year-old is signed until the end of next year but can start conversations with rivals from November.

He’s been tipped to be a future star of the game and showed in his five first grade appearances he has the talent to be a starting NRL half.

Burton will reportedly see out his current contract as he is keen to continue learning off Ivan Cleary and son, superstar halfback Nathan.

There’s even reports he could re-sign with Penrith but with lots of rivals circling, particularly the Bulldogs, a guaranteed starting spot could be too good for him to turn down.

BULLDOGS TO LET GO OF VETERAN

The Daily Telegraph reports incoming Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett won’t offering veteran forward Aiden Tolman a new deal.

The 31-year-old is off-contract at the end of the season. He has played 271 NRL games, 218 of those with the Bulldogs.

While Tolman is likely past his best years, his leadership has been huge for the Bulldogs and would be sorely missed by his teammates who always credit the prop for his workrate.

Better late than never, especially if he comes to us as en even better player with an extra year of experience in a genuine premiership level squad.

I guess. Just sign him up before Panthers change their mind.

Surely he wont wait around for a whole year when he could just come over and start building something special with us.
You'd think he'd learn the most from regular NRL game time. We also have Barrett who you'd think would teach him the most in regards to being a better half.

That was the sentence I noticed too but that doesnt make sense

Nathan has credited Trent for his improvement this year so why wouldn't Burton want to learn directly from Trent. Surely learning from the teacher is better than learning from the student

Hopefully it's just more media BS and we get him next year. The fact that we've pulled the offer to Foran and we might send Lewis to Melbourne (hopefully) means you'd think we have someone else coming....hopefully its Burton

No point in earning $100K playing CC when you can earn $400K playing FG

Yeah true I just feel its abit of a waste of time for him sitting in reserves (if there even is reserves next year) we wouldn’t exactly be offering him peanuts to come over too.

Panthers will probably make him see out his contract, looks like he's accepted that already.

We might have to sign a stop gap for one year, surely we don;t go into 2021 with Wakeham and Lewis.

It's definately not my ideal scenario, and I can't imagine why he'd want to sit in reserves instead of playing regular football. I'm just tryna see the pro's in the situation lol

I’d suggest it’ll be a matter of cap pressure for the Pennies, not change of mind. Translation: they may not have a choice, depending on who else they want to keep/upgrade. You can’t keep ‘em all and fortunately we’re now in a position to swoop having spent three years in purgatory.

Everybody makes the sacrifices, so playing Canterbury on lower money certainly can't be sold on that

Those three years have felt like 10 lol
I just think thank goodness this mess is nearly behind us and we can move on.
Really can’t take too much more to be honest.
Starting to go grey !

It’s nice to see the light at the end of the long dark tunnel isn’t the train coming the other way :-). As for the grey, well, no comment :fearscream:.
