Loopholes are one way to look at it, another is they are starting their apprenticeship to maybe becoming head coaches. 15 out of 16 current head coaches are ex players and I'll bet they all started out running the water.
I can understand why you see no issues with loopholes given that your club benefits from every kind known. But it's a bit sad that a club like yours that doesn't even carry a large supporter base constantly benefits while seeing this happen drives supporters away from the game.

I look at the NRL as being short sighted. Enough fans get angry with the game and stop watching and the sponsorship deals dry up. I know a couple of former union fans that stopped watching for various reasons. And I think union is maybe 20 years ahead of league with driving fans away. From all reports, they're not far from bankruptcy. The NRL administration would do well to fix the salary cap so that loopholes don't keep making the strongest rosters stronger. Might be nice for fans of the few clubs that are dominant, but many other fans get fed up with seeing glamour clubs get whatever they want.

That's what people tend to ignore. The All Blacks and the Roosters would of still won without him, he plays well in a well playing team, even did it with us in 04.

We have seen what he does in a struggling team, he packs his bags and runs away like a bitch.
Fair call. He is a super talent but age catches us all. And he will go down as a great. Not many people have a NRL premiership, rugby World Cup and boxing tittle. you assessment of him running away. I agree could done things a lot better. And disappointed a lot especially younger fans. But life goes on and hopefully he has matured.

I find this view a bit ironic as it was not that long ago your club was a glamour club, able to recruit/retain whoever they wanted, sponsors lining up, players wanting to stay for less, money falling out of your arse, etc etc. Did you have this view at that time? Probably not. I had this view in the 80s and 90s, not so much now. The big question is whether you'll have this view when your club is again, one of the powerhouse glamour clubs?

Could have used that advice from him 13 years ago before he told him to walk away from us :p bit too late for the sympathy now.

And he is a done deal at the roosters. Was a done deal as soon as Toronto pulled out of ESL.
He is a fkn brainless puppet controlled by shit c***s like Naser and Mundane. He is their meal ticket.

Probably 9 making shit up they reckon we are chasing him.
Wouldn't it be nice if $bw does run out for the rorter's and just for once our player's smash the ****, just for once, he's always had the better of our team but surely it's the doggies turn for revenge, I want to see the **** laying on the ground in fucking agony for how he treated our club!!

I can see huge differences between the Roosters now and the Bulldogs ever. At our best we had a knack for finding undervalued talent stuck behind established stars. The roosters tend to recruit players in the year they make their rep debuts or after they're established as stars. This has been the case for as long as I remember. Doesn't matter how much quality is in the roster already, they find space.

When we were caught cheating the cap it was to retain the team we'd established by picking the eyes out of the reserve grade. The only "next big thing" signing I can recall is Willie Tonga and he'd only played three or four games. Our one period of trying to sign established talent led us to our current situation of having to shed most of our talent and rebuild. And even now it irks me a little to be in this situation of being desperate to sign a few established stars. I just don't see the cap being well policed around a few powerhouse teams. If we get back among the top tier of rosters I'll accept it when we have to let players go to remain cap compliant.

It's the illusion of fair play. sign Cronk for 1mil and claim your cap compliant, when in actual fact they are over by that amount or more. Then when he retires oh we have a mil to spend that we never actually had.

If the NRL rubber stamp $BW to the bondi fuckwits then it really shows how corrupt they are.

Report states they have 200k in cap plus letting go of a player worth 150k

Williams last contract in NRL was in excess of 1 mill, Toronto are paying him 5 mill. Going of that, anything less than 600k for half a season plus finals would not be fair value.

There are rumours that $BW was talking to Politis and might sign for the rest of the season this week.

If the NRL allow that, that's a whole new level of corruption. They wouldn't let Folau sign for Parra because it was below his market value but they'll let $BW sign for the two time defending premiers for the minimum?
Yes they changed that rule after Wayne Bennett got Gasnier back to St George for the sum of 50K well below his value.

I love it how the Roosters always have a spare couple of thousand K just in case. They took back the loan player from the Warriors once they had two injuries and I thought the development players are the ones earmarked to fill in so why don't they use them...They effectively still have 27 players to pick from and if they don't have a specialist in a certain position that is their problem.I would be really cheesed off if they tried to sign SBW as a development player that is absolutely ridiculous but it appears it is an NRL loophole because Frawley is in the Raiders development squad but is far less a player than SBW...

Lol...Freddy just said that Weidler would do anything for a story when they mentioned SBW to Roosters. He said that SBW spoke to Politis but there's a whole heap of hurdles.
Weidler exposed AGAIN!!

How are the roosters cheating the cap?

they are down Cronk and picked up Flanagan cheap so they would be under for sure and they were Uber last year too.

besides Ted and Crichton who's on big money?
