Fucked if I know what Meaney was brought to the club for. Pay saw him as a fullback initially. They moved him to the wing for DWZ. Now DWZ is on the wing, our best winger is still in the centres and Meaney is still on the wing with Hoppa at fullback.

People can defend Pay all they want but trying to make sense of his logic can be impossible at times. If Meaney wasn't seen as a better fullback than Hoppa, then why was he recruited in the first place?
Yeah and Im still scratching my head at certain selections in this weeks side but Im trying not to winge every time I post on TK. Its hard.

Exactly. Called it like this from day one, he was never a fullback and was never going to be good enough there, yet I got the "oh you're so negative blah blah" nonsense because he ran the ball hard an we won a few games.

Problem is we signed him as a fullback and as a result we're probably paying him far more money than we need to be. But it is what it is, we have to persist with him on the wing and simply make better decisions moving forward. Hopefully his confidence isn't smashed or he has a little sook like he did at Penrith..
Positive is.

If he does get his groove back on the wing. We won't have to shop around for a 750k winger. We have one.

Maybe they'll offer JAC $800,000 then :grinning:

Glad he's making some changes. Hoppa isn't getting good ball at right centre, better being used as a sweeping fullback. DWZ should be at centre and Reimis back on the wing.

I have fears that the club might be signing JAC as a "fullback"

Foran prob said fk mate I can’t do shit with this backline

If true I’ll give Pay credit for making those changes but I’ll believe it when I see it

A win or close loss will save Pay but a 50-0 thrashing and its curtains
You mean give the players the credit for demanding changes

JMK should go he has nothing. Give Katoa a chance to see how he goes. I believe Cogger should be given a chance at hooker, is a tough little bugger. Lewis has had his time and it is up. Can’t understand why Wakeham was signed for another two years and they don’t pick him, should be given a go with Foran. What has Harper done wrong I thought he went well when given a go last season? Pay does make some strange decisions.
Cogger at hooker?????
Mate he can’t defend in the middle.

I think you will find Remis plays totally different at right centre . He is a right hand ball carrier which makes it tough for him to be any attacking threat at all on the left . Look at Josh Morris when he played right centre at origin . He defended ok but was never an attacking threat.
Exactly, we have no natural left sided players in our club. We should be targeting specialist left centre and winger. Reimis would go a lot better on the right but still not sold on him, lacks that agility.

Smith defenitely lacks too many key attributes of a centre and it's why I have never been a fan of the move. Unless he's already outside his man and hitting the ball at pace then he really isn't going to do much.

J Moz was good at right centre all the time, remember him setting up a cracking try with BMoz on that edge in origin. But yes I get your point and still stand by Smith being a winger, all he does is block Alomati now

What are your thoughts as to why Lewis continually gets picked in the havles over others. Wakeham, Averilo even Cogger will make better partners for Foran. Lewis has had multiple chances and simply isn't up to it. Why not give 1 of these other kids a fair go. Especially Wakeham should be given a fair crack of at least 10 games at halfback to see if his good enough.
Agree. I quite like the changes and looking forward to seeing if Foz and Averillo can combine/spark but I also thought Meaney was pretty safe out back before he moved to wing. I’d also be happy with a back 5 of Meaney / DWZ / Averillo / Hoppa / Reimis.

Right now I think it’s because Lewis has a bigger kick on him than Wakeham or even Cogger. I’m not saying his kicks are especially effective but they’ve got some distance that doesn’t seem to come from others when Foz isn’t there. Wakeham and Cogger seem to have more effective shorter kicks. Also because it’ll be interesting to see how much kicking Foz does or whether he’s going to be more about directing traffic and creating opportunities. Cogger wasn’t great last week, but I’d like to see him with Foz. I’m not concerned about Averillo in the halves, it looks like he’ll get his shot in the backline and that’s going to be interesting to watch, especially if Foz can create some space for him. I consider the changes positive and Foz’s ongoing halves partner will be determined from this week. Wakeham, assuming he’s staying (and it’s not a Harper-eseque situation) will get his chance again.

What do you mean Wakeham, "assuming he's staying"?

It’s only been reported in the media that he’s agreed to terms for a new contract. Notice now there’s been no formal announcement from the club and he hasn’t been picked two weeks straight now? It could be nothing but it could also be smoke or maybe even fire?

Dinkum, do you know what brought about these changes from Pay?
Did he have a change of mind since Tuesday’s team announcement or was it forced upon him?

All good changes except one. Smith is not a centre. Only he and his manager thinks otherwise.

If he fails again then just drop him until he realises his position is wing. Sick of players and their managers putting clubs to ransom. Piss him off otherwise.
