We'll agree to disagree then. At least one of those girls chose to share their exploits on social media first and that's how the leak started. They are hardly completely innocent and that's part of the problem - this desperate need to 'share' on social media to be cool. It's a disease.
In my view the club had no choice. Nor really did Rashay's. If it were my business I would've done the same. I note they have left the door open to when the heat dies down so we'll see.
Where does it end? If very strong messages are not sent to those who break the rules it's only a matter of time before the next scandal happens. For that, I believe Okunbor at the very least has to be the example and his employment terminated.
I'm not referring to the NRL, other clubs, other incidents etc - we have no control over those and even so, the fact most of those are criminal matters means there's police, courts and other processes that have to work their way through (eg: De Belin, Scott).
Should those blokes be playing? Absolutely not in my view - and that's why I would applaud a strong stance from our club that shows other clubs and perhaps even the NRL need to draw a harder line.
My position does not come from digging the boot in nor popular opinion - it comes from a strong and ongoing interest in the welfare of our club and how we set the standards that everyone else should aspire to.
You make some good rational points; but let’s not have a puritanical mindset, I think immediately we need to consider the welfare & headspace of Jayden in particular. Let’s not have him hung, drawn & quatered to appease the media, NRL HQ or the PC brigade.

You make good points too. Yes we can sit back and talk about his stupidity and recklessness but we don't know what his head space is like. He will now know that he made a big mistake, he will have to live with the inevitable snickers and shaming, but that does not mean that his mental well being needs to be neglected or indeed forgotten about. An unfortunate and big life lesson learned by the boy. We are very quick to criticise but rewind to the times when we happy to have him playing the game for our side. We can be upset with him and have our opinion as to how we viewed his actions but we also need to remember he is human just like the rest of us who has made a big mistake. Lets hope he has learned from it.

Yeah it's possible mate. I note the word 'suspended' was chosen by Rashay's not 'terminated' when referring to the sponsorship discussions.
Possibly once the actual outcome of this is known (ie: if the club take a strong stand on this as I believe they should) - there might be a way forward with the sponsorship...
Yes I think Rashays are looking closely at how the club handles the situation and I think that’s played a factor in the matter being referred straight to the NRL. For that reason alone I reckon there will be a heavy penalty... particularly for Okunbor... just my 2 cents.

The more we can stew over it the more likely it is that perhaps he will be sacked and perhaps deregistered. The NRL dropped the ball on a few other incidents involving females so they need to set that right. Their thoughts on incidents around women and children are pretty strict and I guess they will act accordingly.

I don’t disagree and precisely why I think the club didn’t react immediately nor said much at yesterday’s presser - they certainly didn’t appease the media. They are letting the process play out (as they should). That would include internal (welfare) and external components (NRL etc). So yes, let’s wait until the end of that process, however, if the ‘crime’ is upheld (not literally breaking the law) then the time must be served, whatever that is.

Social media and the craving for " likes" has a lot to answer to. The stupidity and crassness of some leave me bewildered at times.
the media and social media all push endless amounts of smut and filth onto the public, and the majority support it, but when the same media and social media tell them to be outraged, they are outraged :nomouth:

Of course. I don’t think anyone suggests we should treat him like trash but that doesn’t mean the situation is tenable. The latest coming out this morning where it appears he requested intimate pictures over Snapchat etc paint an even grimmer picture for his future at the club however. It’s not just him either - his mum works for the club - I believe he had a girlfriend - so many knock on effects for some poor choices.

Wow, I have not seen any of the talk from today and that is just another nail in the coffin if true both for his club future and that within the game itself. Yes, think of his family too....how would they feel?
Things can't get any worse surely????

Damn, my boy Okunbor is thirsty as hell.

I can’t hate on the dude, his career is gone over some puss. He wasn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last.

Let's be honest here, he is a shit player and he fucked up, he will be sacked.

We get rid of a shit player and it shows the club doesn't take shit and acts swiftly.

Just saw the post relating to the Instagram stuff and see that the comments in the article mention the information and photos being published by a friend of one of the girls....what sort of legalities now exist in relation to porn etc.? The club must be so angry as must his team mates. I am waiting to hear and see the shit that the Parra fans will dish out tonight. There will be no talk about the footy on Nine they won't have time to because all they will be discussing if this...........................

I tend to agree to some extent tho I don't farm off any direct responsibility from the 2 players.

Where does the buck stop?

The club needs to learn something from this as well. Clearly the players were not sufficiently intimidated by our rules of no women in rooms. How can they feel so brazen as to think they can walk through reception, escort a female to their room and later the female leaves via the corridor and reception. No official around that the player is even remotely worried will discover them? Surprised.

Not trying to expand the blame game here but a whole new re-set of procedures and accompanying fines/dismissal needs to be implemented.

I've suggested elsewhere, we are now in terrible territory and Gus Gould, someone who is universally recognised as a leader, needs to be brought in to thoroughly assess our club going forward.....if only as a positive public relations measure to give us some hope of clearing the club's name and reputation.
Would this have happened under Bellamy? Or Bennett?
Pay gives all the impression of being 'one of the blokes'.
His time has come. As has the boardroom's and CEO's. THEY'RE the ones charged with fostering club culture. Not just fu*king talking about one!
