Surely Pay will see the liability Okunbor is? Also Meaney and Smith finished last year strongly on the wing it makes more sense to have Harper and Hoppa as the centres.
Yh I'm pretty comfortable with both Meaney and Smith on the wing. Not overly keen on Harper, not because he's bad or anything but I'm just favouring the injection of some genuine pace into our side.

Averillo could play the utility back off the bench role. I’ve seen others say he can cover 1-6 which is invaluable with injuries and HIA’s

True, but like I said I will always favour him because of his pace and I personally think he will do a better job than Harper.

I need one of them named for my NRL Fantasy side so I’m not mad either way

Dont be too hard on the kid played all his juniors at fullback and in the halves only played Centre in a bit in sg ball and jersey Flagg. Kid is an out and out half, never been able to tackle real good , hence the turning in over many years in the juniors and he goes for intercepts all the time, cause he is not confident in holding his space in d, good luck to the kid moving forward

Did he need to pass though? Ahah he backed him self and scored tries
I didn’t know how to take this comment, especially if being normal/sarcastic

Okunbors defence also isn't up to firstgrade but it looks like he will be starting the year lol. Anyway with Wakeham, Averillo and BBO we have a fair bit of potential in the halves, surely at least one of them will come good.
Okunbor and wakeham aren’t firstgraders averillo looks a natural to me , the other 2 are too inconsistent and can’t defend , defence is important against speed and size.

Averillo looks alright. Would need to see a little more to really get a gauge on him, only time will tell.. but kid may have potential yet.

1st person to agree with me that he is a half.In flegg last year he barely touched the ball until they moved him to the halves.Once in the halves he was the best player in the team hence the quick move up to the canterbury cup

Would start him off on the wing in first grade now, ease him into the NRL, just like with meaney, I called for him to go to wing first, but no they put him to fullback first, too much pressure.
It's all about confidence first.
But averillo I think too good to be left out of the top grade for now.

lol you posted the exact same message a page ago. Sorry to hurt your feelings Morgan
Yeah I did. Didnt think it warranted a new comment. As for you thinking I'm Morgan - firstly I'm female and secondly I'm sure all the boys have better things to do than read all these posts. At least I hope so cos man there is a lot of putting of players down. Oh and by the way I am also a fan of Jake

He is not a winger in first grade .He is not explosive nor big enough but unfortunately the only spot that is going will be wing.
He is a centre at nrl level would be my thought.
Smith needs to go back out one and he comes in to better balance the backline.
The kid handled the step up in lower grade last year and showed good signs last week and will put 100% in to prove himself regardless.
If pay gives him a go then that is another win moving forward .
All rests on Pay but he needs to swap them around.

it's so hard for these guys to really show what they've got when they do get their chances because we play so much footy on the back foot... I really hope Wakeham plays the majority of the Raiders trial so we get to not only see that he is better than Cogger and Lewis combine, but so the whole team can play a bit more footy

Yeah it seems a very old school way of doing things when you still blood a outside back on the wing.

Wing is a specialist position these days and throwing someone unfamiliar with it can be a disaster.

Once Averillo went to fullback last week he looked so much more comfortable.

What I miss most about not seeing the Dogs week-in-week-out is actually watching the juniors come through. Getting to the game super early and seeing all the grades. Nothing better than that.

Really appreciate you guys giving this insight into the youngesters as I really don't have a scooby about how good they are. Cheers!
I agree. These days cause I'm in QLD and close to Wynumn-Manly home ground, it's all the second level footy I get to watch. Used to love being near Belmore and walking over and watching the lower grades.

When’s Harper getting a run. He’s the best centre at the club
