A Sydney police officer has faced court after she allegedly made false statements to police and fraudulently claimed more than $30,000 in insurance.

Senior Sergeant Karen Yerbury, 52, was charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage and misconduct in public office after she and her co-accused allegedly participated in insurance fraud.

Yerbury has been charged with two charges of alleged deception.
Police allege between May 19 2017 and April 24 2018 Yerbury made a fraudulent insurance claim to car insurance agency Eric Insurance Limited for a settlement of $30,571.17.

“(It is alleged) Yerbury did, as a sworn member of the NSW Police Force, make false police reports and make a false statement and failed to disclose the true nature of circumstances surrounding these matters,” the charge sheet read.

The matter returns to Sutherland Court next year and Yerbury is required to report to Sutherland Police every Wednesday as part of her bail conditions.

A 23-year-old woman and 48-year-old man known to Yerbury will appear at Sutherland Local Court on January 10 charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage.

The man was also charged with participating in a criminal group and driving while disqualified.

Police raided Yerbury’s Engadine home and another residence in Kirrawee as part of investigations on November 13.

The mother of one is an avid Canterbury Bulldogs fan and said on Facebook she once worked for the Attorney General.

Guys, I keep telling you, the Telecrap has set out with an agenda against the Bulldogs ever since we vocally backed the Bunnies inclusion. It stumped and embarrassed them to have to include them in the comp again. This is a fact, it is clear, and all these “tidbits” added into stories at any given chance just proves this. There IS NO denying this.

I agree, we get too emotionally wound up with what the telegraph publishes. People got to start ignoring them and not react. The reaction is exactly what they want us dogs supporters to do.

I can see future headlines like...

Killer who once attended a good Friday match to watch the Bulldogs play for free with an Easter show ticket...

Convicted arsonist who was known to get off at Belmore Station and walk past the Bulldogs HQ on his way home daily...

Fraudster who owned a Bulldog...

They mentioned that she lives in Engadine and Sutherland court.

They didn't want anyone to think she was a Sharks supporters (and tarnish their good name) so had to mention she supports the bulldogs.
