Play 9 games for NSW and 2 for Australia, scoring 2 tries for the latter.

At 178cm and 85kg, he is more like a modern day lock/five-eighth but was a reliable, solid second rower for his time.

An all time great & club legend. One of the best defenders & was very skilful. Played 5/8, lock, second row & hooker, so add versatility.

Bring back Folkes to do what? I don't think he wants anything to do with us anymore after the way things ended (ie, getting the wooden spoon and his brother-in-law getting the job over him).

Just have him around he is a club legend and one club player. I wouldn't assume anything about what he wants

12th most successful coach on win % that has coached more than 250 games in the history of the game.

If it wasnt for the train wreak of his final season, where many things out of his control occurred that stat would be much higher.

To play in 4 titles and coach one...there aren't many people that have given more to the club.

Great player.
Only thing is he would never play for any other club apart for the Bulldogs.
Didn't he grow up in the Greenacre/Punchbowl area?
He is a Bankstown native.

(a) Josh Jackson reminds me of Folkesy a lot ....

(b) Folkesy punched Benny Elias 6 times in the '88 GF brawl and this year marks the 30th anniversary of that joyous occasion.

He played for Bankstown Sports. Their home ground which used to be called Mclean reserve was renamed Steve Folkes Reserve a fair while ago. It is next to the velodrome at bass hill.

The toughest player P4P to play for us. Tackling machine with a massive heart. Loved him as a player as he never let you down.

Billy Johnstone and Steve Reardon were from the same mould.

Good comparison altho Jackson much better defender, however both no nonsense hard working players would want them beside ya in a war

Reardon wasn't an 80 minute player though and nowhere near as good as Folkes.
