Heart issue pauses Eastwood’s pre-season

EXCLUSIVE: Canterbury have sent Greg Eastwood for specialist tests, with the veteran forward suffering from an irregular heart beat.

Eastwood has sat-out pre-season training for the past fortnight, after suffering dizzy spells and faintness.

The 30-year-old will undergo a minor medical procedure on Monday, which the Bulldogs hope will return his heart rhythm back to normal.

If successful, the procedure should enable Eastwood to resume training this week.

The health scare is the latest setback for the Kiwi International, who missed the back end of 2017 because of complications from a knee injury he suffered in June.

Eastwood is one of several Bulldogs stalwarts who’ll be playing for a new contract in 2018.

Conspiracy theory -

Is this the Segway to "Greg Eastwood has been forced into early retirement on medical grounds"
This could mean 1. He gets paid out 2. His payout does not come from the cap, meaning dogs can sign a new player.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Medically retire and saves 700k off the salary cap

An irregular heart beat is not what I would call a rugby league injury though so not sure if it would count.

Must be a very minor operation to be training the same week and out in one day.

Does it have to be a “rugby league injury” ? I just thought that it couldn’t be any pre-existing injury or condition that they knew about when they signed their current contract.

What is f45 exactly? I see them popping up everywhere?
I love it!. 45 mins proper intense training. 3 days cardio, 2 days weights and 1 one mixed. Its impossible to get complacent. It's actually very very popular among NRL players. A few teams actually recommend there players to attend.

Our players genuinely love training with just random people and cheering them on. There always smiling during the workouts and I have seen some big improvements in the players and most of them now stay back for a double workout. They also enjoy it because they get to bring there misses and help them and support them as well.

Atleast 5 dogs players are currently doing F45 but I’m sure a lot more are doing it in other ones.

Should just retire.
I said this at the start of the year that Eastwood will retire from health problems but didn't think his heart.
