Richie Kenner released to Souths

Another Bulldog is poised to leave Belmore.

First it was Sam Kasiano, then James Graham and now Richie Kennar.

The 22-year-old centre winger has been granted a release from his contract to take up a two-year-deal with South Sydney.

An Australian Schoolboy, Kennar made his NRL debut for Melbourne in 2015 after graduating from their Holden Cup side.

He left the Storm this year after nine games in the top grade but hasn’t been able to get a look in at first grade

The Rabbitohs will confirm the signing after the cooling off period expires and Kennar’s not the only player the Rabbitohs are keen on.

Another guy who played very little footy for us this year and none in first grade, came to us under an injury cloud. He might have been a decent player if things had been different but it was not to be and these guys are the ones we need to clean out.

I don't know how it is possible we are even close to being over the cap with a 2.4million increase and dropping 2million worth of talent.

Makes me wonder what we paid for guys like kennar, Tualau, Lee etc. Because we certainly didn't pick up any big name players ahead of this season. But given that we let guys like Williams, Rona, Browne and Perrett go to sign reserve grade replacements you would think that after losing some extras this year that we're have had a lot of space to bring the or more moderately big recruits in.

I think I'm h hitting a point where I'd rather not think about much more than game day. All the stuff I read here usually just does my head in.

Watched the ISP game on the weekend reimis smith looked streaks ahead of kennar so not to fussed about seeing him move on.

Hopefully we can keep lichaa and see how he goes under a new coach

Surely this guy was on minimum wage? Got him from Storm, he was injured when we signed him, (leg injury as well so low on fitness), and hadn't played first grade for ages?

Wont make a difference to our cap situation IF he was on minimum as we need to replace him with another minimum wage player

Releasing kennar, is a "push" with regards to the salary cap.
He would've been on minimum wage, and will have to be replaced by someone else on minimum wage.
