Pretty funny. No idea about his coaching credentials but seems like every man and his dog will be linked with the role till Hasler is sacked

My Tigers mates said they thought he might've got the head-coach role there prior to Cleary being appointed.

He was their NYC coach in 2012 when they won the competition, maybe Warren McDonnell is pushing his case as there's obviously some history there.

Or they put "Pay" into their search and it came back as "Payten" and they're running with it....

Has a really good reputation as an A/Coach.

Not sure he would be a good fit for us.

Ray Zib reminds me of the government, they both haven't got the balls to be real men and make decisions so they find a way to blame it on the sheep.

HAHAHAHA THAT is what it reminded me of now that you mention it.

I like that the only hair he has is this TINY flavour saver.

Compare that to Dessies long flowing locks... and we'd be going polar opposite with Payton..

If that translates on the field though... bring him on!!

Shortly after his retirement in 2011, Payten was announced as the head coach of the Wests Tigers' NYC team for 2012.[10] In his first season as coach, the Tigers finished 4th in the regular season. They went on to win all their post-season games, including beating pre-game favourite Canberra Raiders 46-6 in the grand final.[11][12] He coached the side again 2013, before moving into an assistant coaches role with the Tigers' NRL side in 2014.

In 2013, Payten made his representative coaching debut, as his New South Wales Under-18 team defeated Queensland 56-6.[13] He coached the side again in 2014, with New South Wales winning 24-10.

In October 2014, Payten joined the North Queensland Cowboys as their NYC head coach for the 2015 season and assistant to head coach Paul Green's NRL side.[14]

On 4 October 2015, Payten was a member of the Cowboys' coaching staff in the side's 17-16 Grand Final victory over the Brisbane Broncos.

Judging by this coaching form he could be good to take the next step. the club needs new blood and this could be just the start of something new

Sorry if it offends but I rate him
He's an attacking coach and has an affiliation with a lot of good juniors coming through

A fresh new enthusiastic voice could be good for us

Aaron woods is pushing for him hard too
