If you look at the stats for Hopoate, they just don't stack up for a fullback. However they show that he does all the things you expect from a winger.

Why not shift B Moz to Fullback and Hopoate on the wing? Morris is a vastly better kick returner, breaks the line more and busts just as many tackles.

Brett Morris should have retired last year, instead he is now playing two seasons too long with busted ACLs. He's slower than 2017 El-Masri.

As for Floppa the bloke is a Manly flop just like trex I'm afraid. 1 or 2 good games followed by 10 average or poor games. Played well when his contract was up then went into slow flopper plodder mode. Re-signing him for another couple of years was a brain fade. We should have forced him to do another mormon mission that way he wouldn't eat up any cap space.

We don't have a first grade fullback in our whole squad.....

Hoppa is a slow centre, Bmoz is a winger and Abbey isn't a first grader.

Hes a centre. Heard warrriors are after Johnny Tuivasa Sheck... fuck them, we need to fuck of the Morris boys and Tolman / Graham and write off 2018 and build for 2019. Nabbing JTS would give us extra pull in prying RTS away from the Warriors
    1. RTS
    2. JTS
    3. Hopoate
    4. Cotric (this kid cant sit behind Croker and Leilua forver, decent money and left centre spot would see him walk away from Raiders imo)
    5. Montoya
    6. Foran
    7. ? maybe Cleeland
    9. Mbye.
Will be good to give the comp a real shake up then.

He probably would have been a good fullback 10 years ago when the role was different.

Knew he wasn't a first grader when we signed him. 2 years out of the game killed him. He plays smart and to the best of his ability but he lacks the athleticism and mainly speed to play at the back or as an outside back

He needs to play in the backrow, yet no one at the club has any ambition or creativity to make this change. Yeo, Mata'utia, Lawrence, etc have made this transition in recent years, Hoppa should be the next. His body isn't suited to the backs anymore.

All Hoppa's weaknesses in the backs almost become non existent in the backrow. Instead of being a slow outside back with limited footwork, he's a forward that has some handy footwork and reasonable speed. Physically he can handle it, he has showed us he can take a beating at fb while racking up the runs and metres. He's also a strong ball runner that can break away from tackles and manage an offload. Defensively he is fine and has showed us that from his time in the centres, so it isn't that big a stretch to think he could do a similar job in the backrow.

    Make it happen ffs.

The only problem with this idea is that Hopoate has no idea at all about line running. In his current style, he'd be worse than ever in the back row. I'd park him on the wing until his contract ends. He doesn't run with much impact, he struggled to break the line and gets sideways too early, meaning he'd be more likely to run his winger out of the play.

He tries to play cute but doesn't have the nous for it.
