First trial last year we looked like a top 4 side and Pele was unstoppable.
he copped a short ball 10m out, stepped and changed hands in the same motion then popped an offload to Preston for a try. It was all downhill from there.

If only we conditioned him properly

Basically manager highlighting the lack of middles at dogs through press. Yes 100's of clubs are chasing him for a million plus according to him. Gus will handle it...he will get paid his market worth and stay with us.

I think saying Ciraldo is under pressure is jumping the gun. Gould actually told Ciraldo not to come last year as he knew it was going to be a transition year where things would still be hard. So really this year should be CC's first as he was stuck with an old system and players.

I think we will see vast improvement from what happened last year. For one its not the same side and is a much improved roster. The positive of CC coming last year is it will be the second preseason under his systems for most players so the fitness, discipline and defensive systems should be more ingrained.

That has to mean improvement and thats all everyone is expecting. If we do better than expectations then thats a bonus.

But its a 5 year plan and we are not just building on an existing good side but one that has been completely overhauled so the idea is to gradually step by step improve until really towards the end of the 5 years we should be in a much stronger position to play semi finals. Lets se in year 3 and 4 before we start putting pressure on the coaches.

Where's the much anticipated annual "training the down / dogs of war" article?

Cameron Ciraldo came to the Bulldogs last season on a mega five-year deal, but his tenure got off to a slower than expected start as the team arguably went backwards in a lot of areas.

Change takes time and Ciraldo deserves more time to mould the roster in his vision for the future, which he has wasted no time in doing.

After they finished third last in 2023, Bulldogs boss Phil Gould and Ciraldo brought in 10 new signings and let as many go to try and weed out the culture of underperformance at the club.

There is now not a single survivor from the 2021 Bulldogs side still at the club, which shows just how much Gould and Ciraldo have shaken up the roster.

However, the players they have brought in with the exception of Stephen Crichton are not elite stars.

The knock on the club is that they have brought in too many utility players in the likes of Drew Hutchison, Connor Tracey, Blake Taaffe, Kurt Mann and Jaeman Salmon and there is no obvious starting roles for any of them at the club.

Still, Ciraldo and Gould believe the commitment and hunger from these role players will help them become a better defensive unit after they leaked points in atrocious fashion last season.

The proof will be in the pudding and it remains to be seen if this team of utilities can match it with the best in the competition and compete for finals.

However, the Bulldogs are looking for improvement and to instil pride back in the jersey and these players just might do it until more stars come to the club.

Ciraldo has been given a five-year term to turn the club around, but while he still has time on his side, if the Bulldogs keep getting flogged in 2024, serious questions will be asked about his and Gould’s direction for the club.

This is beyond BORING !
Was Gus the one who sacked all the recruiters and coaching staff replacing them with his mates, was he the one that destroyed our 1st squad roster sacking loyal players and replaced them with mercenaries or was he the one that destroyed our pathways ?
We all know Des the destroyer did it, so why do The Clowns insist on hounding Gus and the people who are doing a great job fixing Des's mistakes ?
Their agenda is obvious, they don't want us to successfully rebuild.

Under too much pressure, can he hack it?
This team will beat plenty of sides, but will it have it over the Premiers?

Nonsense ! CC is far better than any of the alternatives and is doing a great job. Despite what "this masthead" or any other collaboration of germalists might say, CC is safe as houses . . . He will be around long LONG after these clowns have ceased to be relative

Who is responsible for this dribble? Ciraldo will not be sacked.
He has tried very hard to rebuild the team, but the available talent is not that good.
The players who have been recruited are 100% footballers. Unlike last season.
We are a bit short in accomplished middles, but the young guys will more than likely step up.
I have high hopes for Hughes, Edwards, Kautoga and Moasa.
King, Patolo, Sutton, Knight are more that capable of doing the job.
Some people maybe cant see or acknowledge the hard work and effort spent getting to where we are. Again, we might not be quite there yet but for me we'll be top 8. I think we'll see a furious pack defense mentality that'll frustrate opposition and theres more than enough class in the backline to score points. We just have to cross our fingers the spine clicks to unleash the attacking raids. For me its not all about props, sure the good ones help but I dont think we're that far off.

On paper we've gone slightly forward without addressing any of our real key issues.

It’s only slightly better. Not sure why people death riding the poor bloke. Other than Crichton, all others could be argued against.

Good question(s) and time will tell. Panthers are engrained in theyre system and we're just starting. CC can hack it, his demeanor in press conferences was quality especially for a first year coach. We cant forget that. I found barretts pressers more embarrasing than the games that year. This might not mean much to some people but I think its important.

Sometimes whats on paper doesnt reflect the story...not long now until we get put out of our miseries one way or the other.
