i thought it was in reference to eqw - Sutton was ok when playing for Canberra defended in the middle ok but offers nothing in attack - surprised he would be on that much
He's a plodder, worked at Raiders because of the forward pack he had around him but put him in our pack and he becomes exposed. Never worth good money and it's why the Raiders let him go and focused on retaining someone like Horsburgh and their juniors.

Fair appraisal - plodder - your point about the "forward pack around him" is spot on and is applicable to many forwards who lack the size or speed/power to be any more than "toilers n plodders and once expected to do more or be more they fall short.

In the preseason Sutton and Thompson looked like they were gonna be smashing people in defence all season. Thompson got injured and Sutton slowly got worse and lost his impact that by mid season you’d never know he was playing

People do realise that this bloke was probably only signed to fill a spot in the top 30 as clubs are required to fill all spots by a certain date? We bought a cheapie and have been able to move him on as he is now surplus to requirements

Flip da script.
In your mind, why would EQW leave his contract?

He may have been told he is very unlikely to see first grade, may have to start year in rm cup, told he is too slow to play outside back will only be considered a forward, cost of living in Sydney, homesick. His first game in nsw cup was ok - defended well but after that was ordinary

Because he was probably on minimum wage, living away from home and came to the realisation that there is no centre spots available this season at the Bulldogs

Good old nashy… just loves a conspiracy theory ..

It’s all gotta be the work of the Illuminati ..

When does gus or any of the recruitment get the blame for signing so many players for majority of them to be let go the year after cause they are duds. I’m sorry you can’t keep signing potential and try fluke one. People need to be asking questions on who is making all these decisions and if it’s gus then he def needs to be question on why it’s happening!

Love Gus but it is time to start asking questions on some of the decisions...it is looking kinda transit lounge status.

Whilst we have this constant merry go round of unsuitable players, it must surely be hindering stability and growth of the good players they should really have been signing...it puts us back further.

Still think that Gus is our main "fixer" and that it will take time...but....we need to have some consistency in the roster soon and minimise signing these unsuitable types that aren't gonna get us anywhere.

What did the club lose in this situation?

I don't understand why people are so worked up over this, Gus took a stab in the dark with a young kid on minimum wage in the hopes of finding a diamond in the rough, they don't all work out and it won't be the last .. let it go people.

Exactly, especially when we had injuries and depth was kinda needed.

Happens at every single club.

Except the Tigers. They have a collection of them.

Paying Gus a fortune for a "stab in the dark" lol.

EQW had some pretty impressive stats in QCup, Gus gave him a shot, coaching staff obviously thought he wasn’t up for the next level, so shake hands & part ways ..

Nothing ventured, nothing gained …
