Gould’s decision will be final, the Board will rubber stamp it. There is not enough football nous on the Board to challenge him bar possibly 2. The Board members should swim in their lane, the majority of them are in the wading pool.
Oh it will be final all right. If he fucks this call up he won’t survive, regardless of contract.

Those on here who think the kennel / supporters could influence the board to remove Gus if our new coach struggles should be locked up.
His a whale in a fish bowl. The days of no plan are over. Some of you are seriously deranged. And the crap of bagging every could be coach is ridiculous. True supporters don’t take every opportunity to bring the club down.

I like many on here was of the opinion that Barrett's time was up

It's quite obvious they made him walk with a juicy 500k payout, just like how the previous board made Pay walk out with a pay out......because if they really did leave "on their own terms", they would not of received a payout

My question is with the timing of all this?

Why would you sack Barrett, give him a payout and than bring in Potter for half a season and upgrade his contract to reflect that of a first grade coach....

Wouldn't you leave Barrett until the end of 2022 and than give him his marching orders? It doesn't make sense if the club will "hopefully" have a coach by September, which means that it is likely a current contracted coach while sacking Barrett half way through the year?

Could it be that the club already had a handshake agreement with a coach before Barrett was sacked?

Could it be there is a current contracted coach who has cornered Gus to act now, giving him a guarantee that the job is vacant, instead of waiting until the end of the year where it "might" be vacant?

I find it hard to believe that a NRL club would sack their head coach half way through the year, in "hope" with replacing him with a contracted coach at the end of the year
Can’t get a new coach signed up while the current one has a contract for 2023. So had to sack coach A first, install a temp and then sign what has already been agreed with the new coach, then wait x weeks to declare publicly (for one or more reasons) what was a done deal months prior.

100%. Hence Gould saying he hasn't received any applications, hasn't thought about it. He hasn't thought about it because it was signed and sealed weeks ago.

It doesn't matter how I feel. What matters is the conversations we have with one another, expressing our frustrations and gathering different points of view. It doesnt make us any less of a fan.
I share your frustration , where we are is not acceptable. The attacks on the unannounced coach puts unnecessary pressure on before they have started. Whoever coaches us wAnts to be the coach to turn the Dogs around. Just give them a go.

Holbrook under pressure at the Titans with performance related clauses. Maybe we are waiting on him?
He was able to get the best out of an average squad but recruited poorly. However, he would have Gus helping him build a squad.

We need flanno. We’ve got a culture problem at the club. He sorted the sharks out pretty quickly in that department. Madge tried and failed to do it at tigers. And he signed so many absolute shit ***** such as Reynolds (sorry mate), mbye, James roberts, peachey
Peptides would sort out most teams performances

Agree, though fans need to be patient, and I know we already have been waiting for some level of success, but Hasler really left this club in a diabolical mess cutting off juniors and paying his one legged mate 1.2M per year followed by the club making poor recruitment decisions like DWZ, Thompson and Cotric on big overs when they should have been spending overs on Spine players - I’m ok with a 3yr turnaround - next year with a genuine #9 and the best edge player in the game, we should climb to mid table… if we can jag a genuine halfback, we might even challenge for the 8. Most importantly and to your point, key is to develop juniors because “home grown” have natural love for the jersey and efficient for the cap but this takes time
He was only one legged with us. Have a look at him st manly how fit he is, busting tackles and setting up tries at speed. Its just with us he looked fat, slow and lazy - and even at that level he was the best half at the club by a mile in the preceding decade.

Pretty sure it was Cleary not Madge who signed Reynolds and Mbye.

He still doesn't have them putting in. So I'm not sure he is the top of any list for a team. He had a little golden period, and I'm thinking if they decide to get rid of him, someone like Madge would be ideal. He would have the forwards he needs, skill players. He would get those forwards working.

Vox populi, vox dei!
Nah mate, the voice of the members and sponsors. Our clubs structure has caused us some angst over the years but the way it is set up the members and sponsors always have a say in what lunatics are in charge.

To JK’s credit this issue is being addressed.
As for the coach; trust the process. The Club’s current state of demise has been 10years in the making, from administration, coaching & Football Club staff. Every position & all personnel is under detailed scrutiny.
Gus is attacking the issue from the top as well as the bottom simultaneously. Green shoots in the next 6 months.
