NATHAN BROWN WAS ABLE TO RECRUIT TOP PLAYERS TO THE 2017 KNIGHTS TEAM. We really need to get that because of Pay we can't sign anyone out of our heads. What we actually need to do is extended Pay (what I'm in favour of doing unless a top coach is available) for another year (and getting a coach like Flanagan for 2022) or sign another coach for 2021. That decision needs to be now/very soon. Now players will know who their coach is for next year. If it came down to replacing Pay, Craig Fitzgibbon is a good shout, very similar to Adam O'Brien. The only reason why we haven't signed anyone is we're not offering overs (or at least enough).

How can you want to extend Pay after the first five games?

I still can't get over Pay taking Averillo off for Harper. Only to change his mind and bring Averillo back on and take Meaney off in the space of about 15 mins. Just bonkers coaching. Or maybe he's finally making good on his promise to bring the madness back.

I know it's been mentioned in other threads, Napa's performance in the context of playing his old club & needing to step up in Tolman's absence was absolutely shocking. The number 1 change he needs to make for next week is him being dropped from the starting side for Toomaga.
Was meany injured, averillo should have went to 6 and Lewis gone off. The game is skill and instinct. We have no skill to act on instinct.

Almost every Roosters try tonight was because of a six again penalty, penalty or error, especially the ones that gave them their 24-0 lead (how is the coaches fault?). After that we played quite well and there was a period before half time where we should of scored a try or two. I'm still in the firm belief (with good reason) that the team isn't good enough. We simply don't have the cattle and are ~3m under the salary cap when taking everything into account. Before the game started I said openly multiple times that only one of our players would make the Roosters starting 13. I'm just going to keep coming back to fans having unrealistic expectations. We had a good win last week and we should of lost to the Eels 13+. We didn't play well against the Cowboys, even tho we weren't favourites, but everything else has gone as expected? Like I said we have to extend Pay so players know who the coach is for 2021 (even tho imo if they're offered overs they'll barely give a shit who's coaching). It's also literally a fact that Pay has overachieved and unless we can get a top coach (maybe Craig Fitzgibbon) it just doesn't make any sense to me to sack him.

You can't extend the coach if we lose by 30 plus every second week in his third season on the job. It's pretty simple.

Vs two top four teams? We were much better tonight than when we played Manly.

No wonder he made Napa play most of the first half. He had this interchange waste in mind
Napa is a cat... Can't wait until he's gone tbh

We were giant killers late last year and the year before, we haven't been able to continue that form at the beginning of each year where it matters the most.
This is the 3rd year in a row this has happened.
Does anyone have the answer?

Are you Dean Pay’s sister?

Fair dinkum. How can anyone possibly see anything good in Pay. He has shown nothing. No player has improved under his coaching. Our defence is as soft as its been for the last ten years. There is no mongrel in our defence. God help our attack.
I’m sick to death of people saying he hasn’t got the cattle. The last three years when the pressure is on we have been a laughing stock. We will no doubt win 5 of our last 9 games and Pay will be given another chance.

DWZ joining the roster mid season gave us an injection of life?
The team performs better when the season is "finished" for us?

I personally think we overachieved and I wouldn't be expecting it to happen again this year.

Smith has already come out and said that he doesn't want to be a full-time coach like Bellamy, too many hours, would prefer to be a specialist position coach ..
Everyone knows we don’t have great cattle. But withstanding that why has our defence turned so marshmallow?
I could count on one hand the amount of dominant tackles tonight. Their speed of play the ball was embarrassing. That comes down to coaching, preparation and strength work. We look so soft across the board. I really don’t know where from here.
I know one thing Pay is not the answer. We need to accept that and move on.
But with who? My answer would be to throw the chequebook at Cameron Smith. If there ever was a coach already playing the game he is it. Worth the gambl

I find it funny you think dominant tackles and play the ball speed is a coaching issue.
Pay is the best person for the rebuild (our 2021 is similar to the Knights 2017) until a top coach is available. I can see people putting a case up for Fitzgibbon but that's about it.
Cameron Smith isn't going to coach immediately after playing. That's silly.
You don't have realistic expectations and putting out a team that represents ~6-7m on the salary cap is a massive deal.

Mate, how do you over achieve?
Last year we were tipped for the wooden spoon, are you stupid? Wtf is wrong with you people. Also before a ball was kicked we were expected to come second last this year (and that's even with the run at the end of last year that you lot like to bring up).

No, it's unrealistic expectations at this point.
Unrealistic expectations to not lose 42-6 or 32-6? We're not talking about losing, we're talking about the performances being an embarrassment week to week.

I don't know what's worse, the club being so content with these displays or so many fans still not seeming too fazed.. I guess it's proof of how far the club has fallen.
